My Mom is looking at buying a Jeep wrangler just to bomb around in the summer since her car is getting a partial resto this year. I owned a 97 TJ and loved it, but I don't know a lot about specifics. I was always told the 4.0L AMC Inline was the best motor Jeep built, and from what I read 97-06 is when this motor was available. She seems to prefer the TJ look over the YJ, and the interior doesn't look as dated. Also she would prefer a manual, if that makes a difference on the year.

Just looking for further info, if there are any years to stay away from, or things to look for/inspect prior to purchase? Gas mileage is not a concern, her daily driver is a Trailblazer SS which is not exactly a Prius

Any help would be great, thanks!
