"When you see this movie, kids are going to believe, one day, that these turtles actually do exist when we are done with this movie. These turtles are from an alien race and they are going to be tough, edgy, funny and completely lovable."

Michael Bay fucking with everyone's childhood continues.

I wish Michael Bay would leave popular well loved franchises alone and go find some unloved, forgotten, less than stellar ones and turn them into something better instead.

There's got to be plenty of crap he could mine to turn into box office gold.

The world's changed too much since the 90's, nostalgic memories just shouldn't be fucked with, embrace the future.

Maybe I'm just getting old, rather watch how HGTV and Vanilla Ice can bling out their sewer pad than this M.B's trans-turtles. I'll probably watch it @ $5 theatre or redbox within 5 months from release.

Wut?

Its not a remake. It isn't the same story. Micheal Bay picked bits and pieces from the real story, put a spin on it, and shoved in the retard Megan Fox. Its not the ninja turtles. Its a story about aliens living among us. Throw in Will Smith and you might as well call it Men in Black 4.

I'd watch this just cause I was in New York while they were making this last year and spent the evening watching them film some of the sequences in Times Square (2:11 of trailer 2). Even went to dinner with some of the extras afterwards. I'm curious to see how that turned out but don't really care much of the rest of the movie haha

Saw it yesterday. IT surprisingly wasn't too bad and the story line wasn't too far off. Like every single Michael Bay film (producer or director), it has it's pros and cons, but for me it wasn't as bad as I was expecting it to be. [7/10 - I'm being a bit generous, but only because I'm a fan of the franchise]

Pros:
- April working at Channel 6 with Vern the camera man is pretty accurate with the cartoons.
- Fight scenes weren't too bad to watch. From the trailer, the fight scenes looked pretty shitty.
- Shredder didn't end up being William Fichtner, which I liked. And the metal suit didn't make Shredder stiff and unable to fight.
- A couple easter eggs made it worth watching - scenes that seemed familiar to the intro of the TV show, "cowabunga", Baxter Stockman cameo, TGRI Ooz cannister, and Shredder's classic line "Tonight, I dine on Turtle Soup."

Cons:
- Turtles still looked horrible to me. And on top of that I couldn't buy it entirely because the CGI looked sub par.
- Megan Fox is a shitty April O'Neil.
- No Casey Jones :(
- Foot Clan weren't ninjas.

403Gemini

It was AWFUL - wasn't too far off from the story? Are you drunk lol

Splinter just being a lab rat instead of Hamato Yoshi (if you follow the comics, it was Hamato Yoshi's pet rat, in animated series Splinter IS Hamato Yoshi ) Either way, the true origins (pet or Hamato himself) explains how Splinter has access to the weaponry. In this he finds a fucking ninjitsu "DO IT YOURSELF" book in the sewers randomly discarded and trains the turtles? Nope, no thanks.

It's almost like this movie was self aware - April's dad was a scientist? The turtles were her pets? Nope, no thanks. When she said "I rescued them from the fire" All I thought in my head was "Of course you did..." with an eye roll - then William Fichtner said "Of course you did."

Everybody already knew Fichtner wasn't going to be shredder when we saw this image in the trailer;

http://nerdreactor.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/06/tmnt-shredder-2.jpg

Regardless, Cyborg shredder was extremely unwanted and was disappointing.

Fight scenes weren't bad indeed - but there weren't many of them.

The foot clan looked too much like call of duty fodder. This is what we wanted;
http://fc01.deviantart.net/fs71/i/2012/363/3/4/foot_clan_2012_by_decepticoin-d5pjbu1.jpg
This is what we got;
http://imageserver.moviepilot.com/maxresdefault-is-the-new-ninja-turtles-movie-getting-shot-in-the-foot-a-little-turtle-history.jpeg

Agree the CGI was a bit sub-par , the turtles themselves weren't bad but when interacting with actual people it just looked "off"

Other problems obviously are nit picking - it's a beautiful spring in new york and somewhere within 20 minutes of downtown new york city there is a giant mountain with a lab covered in snow? Yes I'm aware the mountains would likely have snow but closest to new york city are about 90 minutes, not the "be there in 20 minutes" the girl says when they are driving to Fichtner's facility

The inconsistencies of their strength is ludicrous, they can move around shipping containers, but then have problems lifting a gate.

Megan Fox was awful - good to look at, but awful.

Just bad...

Conveniently right in front of April "ADRENALINE OVERLOAD" button :facepalm:

The Turtles themselves, like their design/attitudes were actually not bad, so because of that I'm with you, 3/10 - but there was VERY little turtles for a ninja turtles movie

Compared to what the original premise was supposed to be, yes. It became a more acceptable story line. But still off obviously.

Like every videogame/comic book adaptation, I expected some changes, which I didn't mind entirely. The whole ninja manual thing was stupid, but as far as the turtles and the Splinter being lab experiments, I was actually okay with that. For a couple reasons:

1. This is an adaptation of an 80's comic book tuned in with modern times and technology. Although far-fetched, being lab experiments which led to mutation isn't out of the realm of possibility. The execution was poorly done, however.

2. We've all seen TMNT II: Secret of the Ooz. If it followed the same arc, the movie would have to dive into the whole TGRI backstory, which we've already seen and read about in the 90s. And if not this movie, it would be the next one.

The movie had potential, but it was executed poorly. And I agree, the Foot Clan was wack.

Much better than DOOM. TMNT wasn't actually all that bad. There were a couple "Michael Bay" scenes, and they changed a couple details on the origins of the turtles, but I was honestly expecting worse.

I don't think you could do another instalment of TMNT exactly like the old versions, it wouldn't catch on with thew younger generation as much.

While I would have preferred it to remain as close as possible to the same as the older cartoon/movies, it is nice to see the franchise have some action with the younger generations now.

Long live TMNT!
