Ordered all of that from JHM today, should get a very heavy box soon. :D Coincidentally, this should be all the prep I have to do if I ever want to go the supercharged route.

JHM tune will come ASAP after everything's installed and running smoothly. Going on vacation in a month, thought I might send the ECU to them while I'm gone. I see some lightweight JHM rotors in the near future too.

KW V3's should be here in about a week as well.

Never thought I'd have Avant envy when I bought my sedan but that sir, is a good looking car!

When your KW V3's and your JHM shifter are installed, do you think we can meet up and give me a ride? I've been wanting to get those for mine too but am iffy on the cost benefit of the mods. I am however, getting a little tired of the S-Tech's on my car though and wouldn't mind upgrading that sooner rather than later.

Alternatively, add me to Vengie's offer on installing parts. I'm very mechanically inclined and have worked on numerous cars (personal, family & friends), including German cars, and have plenty of tools.

We can definitely let you try out the KW's and shifter.

Mobile Reflections did an astounding job today. Full exterior and interior detail, looks absolutely amazing. There's a guy who loves what he does and takes a lot of pride in it.

Fresh pictures after polish, removal of the side S4 emblems that were there for some reason, and new winters mounted.

Mobile Reflection's isn't cheap, but you get what you pay for. Mine counted as a Medium Luxury, so it was $540 for the inside and outside.

Jed picked up my car at 9:30am and returned it at 7 pm. He also had an assistant working with him for the day. 18 ish man hours of cleaning and polishing. Not a spec of dust or dirt inside.

Private deal. Shipped via rail from Toronto to Calgary. Cost me $1200 for a covered rail car, but I could shave a few hundred off that with what I know now.

Technically, if you take delivery of the vehicle in another province you owe the taxes of that province. So in Ontario I would have owed 13% even on a private sale (although it would be hard or impossible for Ontario to enforce/collect). I just made sure the Bill of Lading had the sellers name on it, and therefore I took delivery in Calgary.

Hmm according to this the rules have changed after implementation of HST (so no more claiming of PST):

http://www.rev.gov.on.ca/en/refund/visitor/index.html

I know for a private sale you are fine because you don't pay PST until you register the car. I bought a car in a BC private sale and brought it back on a temp permit. No PST.

From a dealer I guess that would be kind of iffy. Before HST, I think retailers were not obligated to charge PST for out of province sales. Now I am not so sure...

blitz

This is the best summary I found:

http://www.ucda.org/DealerInfo/OutOfProvince.aspx

"Out-of-province purchasers from non-HST provinces and territories may apply for a refund of the 8% provincial portion of the HST paid in Ontario from Canada Revenue Agency, once they have registered the vehicle in their home province and paid any applicable provincial taxes."

Seem's easy to just take delivery in Alberta and avoid the hassle, especially if buying from a dealer.

One thing - Get exhaust - It changed my love for the V8 in that car. In a good way.

I went with AWE - There is a vid on there, obviously doesn't really do it justice, but take a listen.

I have the Fast Intentions downpipe with cats coming, so I need a 2.5" catback system, looks like the AWE is 2.25". I also want something as quite as possible amd from my research so far, the Stasis seems to be the most refined. I'm meeting up with Vengie on saturday so he can use my vag.com cable, so I'll get to hear what his sounds like (although he doesn't have cats).

Need something that's not annoying to the wife or kid!

Not to mention it is proven the 2.5 systems increase power above and beyond what a 2.25 system will.

KW V3's just came in from Tunerworks, and my Stasis cat-back should be in soon.

All my misc parts just arrived from JHM (shifter trio, clutch, complete control arm replacements, strut mounts, motor mounts, spark plugs, o2 sensors etc).

Still waiting on Fast Intentions high flow cat downpipes as the last piece of the puzzle.

Booked in at Tunerworks for KW install on the 25th, and I think I'll go to Tune Dub for everything else.

Careful with the clutch install... make sure George has the instructions as they need to be followed exactly! (Reading on QW/AZ there seems to be a fair amount of clutch failures associated with install)

Mobile Refelctions will be gatting a call shortly to do an exterior / interior on my V. Love their work.

I currently have C-Quartz sealant on my car, and I love it...it adds a nice depth to the finish, over and above the shine. What does MR do for a sealant?

C-Quartz is not a sealant. It is a Crystalline Nano-Coating. Since traditional sealant "wears off" in a few months, Crystalline Nano-Coating requires to be polished off. But it is applied very similar to traditional sealant.

Optimum's Opti-Coat is a great alternative.

Just got it back after 2 1/2 days at Tune Dub.

- KW v3's, which are unbelievably awesome
- Complete replacement of all front Control arms
- JHM stage 4 Clutch
- JHM short shifter
- Fast Intentions 2.5" Downpipes
- Stasis Catback
- All new motor and transmission mounts
- New HID bulbs and ballast
- Spark plugs and O2 sensors

Feels so much different now. Exhaust sounds awesome, but at 1600 RPM under medium throttle it hits a low frequency that makes your ears feel weird. Might need some resonators.

I think I'll do JHM lightweight front and rear rotors soon, and that will probably be it for a while. I do want to supercharge it, but I need a bit of a recovery on some of my stocks before I can mentally justify it.

More pictures to follow soon once I give it a wash.

Last photo with the ADR wheels. Waaayyy too heavy.

Just ordered a controversial choice, 18" Enkei RPF1's. Should drop at least 15 lbs per corner, maybe a little more. Next stop will be JHM 2 piece lightweight rotors, that will drop another 10 lbs per front corner and 3lbs rear.

She's done for now.

RPF1's came yesterday, it's amazing how different it feels dropping 80 lbs of unsprung rotating mass. I also added a Evolution motorsports aluminum skid plate.

Next up will be JHM lightweight rotors on all 4 corners (saves 25 lbs total) and maybe a hood/bumper respray and some 3M. Timing TBD. Supercharger isn't ruled out, but at about $13k it needs to be thought over.

Tried out Plasti-dip for the first time. Wanted to see what it would look like with all the chrome trim gone. Worked really well on the grill, not so much on the window trim.

Really like the results though, so I think I'm going to get a black optic S4 grill and I've ordered some matte vinyl strips to do the windows.

Next I need to swap out the aluminum roof rails and mirrors for black.

In the next few weeks the car will be shipped down to California for a full build on the engine and a Stage 2 supercharger. I've already sent down a cashiers cheque to secure my spot, just need to get the car there. I'll get it back in the spring sometime.

I can't get into too many details, but I'm hoping for 550-600 whp.

Thats Awesome!! I assume you're going with JHM??

Makes me sad I had to grow up and sell mine :(

Hands down my favorite wagon on the forums. That color is just

Quick question, where did you get the 'shadow' tint done? I really like the look of it.

Can't wait to see more updates on this beauty, keep up the great work.

Car left for California in November, new engine is being built right now. Looking to get it back sometime in the spring. Man do I miss it though.

Also looking at ordering a new hood. It got caught in the hailstorm this summer and on top of that the car above it in the transport leaked a bunch of oil onto the hood on it's way down there. They were able to clean most off, but add that to the existing rock chips and I think something new is in order.

Looking at this one, painted to match of course. It's suppose to give much lower engine bay temps, which will probably be an issue once the work is done.

Also just ordered a proper black front grill to replace the plasti-dip'd one. I'll get the chrome window trim properly blacked out after a respray, and then I just need to find some black roof rails or get mine painted.

Please PM me when the time comes to sell. And yes get the new hood as a personal request of the next owner.

Haha, after working out my net "investment" into the car, I don't think I'll ever be able to justify selling it, especially when there's no comparible car out there to replace it with.

Hah, I could see you saying the exact same if the B7 RS4 Avant was here. There simply isn't a car that can compare. V8, wagon, pure bliss on trips or just around town.

blitz

Yup, JHM is probalby the only place I'd trust to build a B6/B7.

I'll be one of the first customer cars with the built engine and Stage 2+. They don't advertise it or give any details publically because it's still in development. Heck, they only put their stage 1 details on the website last month, and they've been installing them for over a year. The secret is to call them up, tell them they can have your car for 6 months and hand them a fistfull of cash.

How much are they charging you for the whole engine build and S/C if you don't mind me asking? I'm hoping for Stage 1 for mine in the near future but there's a few other things I'd like to do first.

No significant updates yet. They had a 6 week delay that I completely understand and agreed to, so getting it back will most likely slip into summer instead of spring.

A guy in Toronto had Stage 1 (bolt on SC with no intercooler) dyno'd at 421 whp and 350 tq. Stage 2 should be north of 500 whp.

I picked up a full set of brakes (front and rear) from a 997 Turbo, not even sure if I'll be able to make them work, but seems like a good project for this winter. Or I might just skip that and stay with the stock calipers so I can fit Work VS-XX with a bit of a lip.

Really missing it now with the good weather back. Got all emotional when I saw Google street view had been updated outside of my house and it was parked in the driveway

Talk to Gretz if you need some sick custom CNC work to make the calipers fit.

Way easier to make Cayenne/Toureg calipers work....

I know the Cayenne's are direct bolt on for the fronts, but if I'm going to do a BBK I want to do front and rear's. Which means custom brackets for the rears and a separate parking brake caliper no matter what method I go with. The price was right on these, so I'm going to see if I can get them to work.

Thanks for the tip on the CNC stuff KRyn

blitz

Not done, a big timing setback because they decided to go with fully sleeving the block, which had never been done before on this engine. I'm happy about this, I'm glad to get away from the alusil cylinders which can be problematic.

Picked up a vented carbon hood, will be paint matched when the car gets a respray next spring.

You have a staggered setup in an AWD wagon?

I thought it had to be the same all around. :dunno:

Since you have decided to sleeve the block and it should be essentially bomb proof, will you be turning up the boost some more?

I'm not concerned about it, it's not a massive difference and the rolling diameter is the same front to back.

That's the plan  Displacement actually goes down with the sleeves, but boost should go up. Not exactly sure what everything will end up at, but the future "Stage 3" uses the same blower and will possibly add water/meth to max it out.

Why? a lot of AWD cars dont have square setup. ie: GTR comes to mind.

Just a thought. I've read around that it's not best to run staggered on an AWD car because of the sensors involved but wasn't entirely sure.

Now that blitz mention it, only diameter should make a difference and not width.

Nope, from what I've read, as long as it's within 3% diameter you should be ok (for tires)

The audi TT runs an 8j front and 8.5j rear but with the same size tires all around (which you could do on an 8.5/9.5 as well)

JustinMCS

yes, as long as the rotational diameter is close, it's good to go.

If you're like one of my coworkers who put two COMPLETELY different sized tires on a square setup mazdaspeed6, you will blow up your differential :)

BMW 3 series with X drive and sport package have wider rear tires also.

Although seeing their posts on AZ it makes you think they took payment and the car before they actually had one the the Stage 2 kits complete and tested out. (Which is ok if they prepare you for it)
I too would love a ride when its back.. my B7 S4 Avant has been losing my interest for some time now.. not that I would jump to this level, but would be interesting to see the potential.

So JHM has now had your car for longer than you've had it in your hands. I don't know who in their right mind would still be interested in their car after all this time "away" from it. That said, I can't wait 'till you get this back just to get a ride-along!!!

I started to get a little frustrated a few months ago, but after expressing my concerns to JHM they put me at ease. I've been pretty busy in the meantime, conceived a child that's now 5 months old

I need to get it back sometime in July as it needs a hail damage estimate and repair from my insurance before mid august to be in the 2 year coverage window.

The only real alternatives are still a CTS-V or E63, and neither appeal to me more. Not too big, manual transmission and AWD.

Oh, and the only thing that really sucks is how the US/CAN exchange rate has changed. At least my initial deposit was paid at 1:1.

With my all in cost considered I will be disclosing everything and insuring for appraised value. Only thing that sucks more than waiting 18 months for your car is having it stolen, trashed and getting a 10k payout on it :nut:

Yup, delivered it with a cashiers check for a little over 50% of the cost. Then I opened up a $US dollar account so I could lock in the remainder if the exchange rate got better.....then promptly forgot about said account.
