Only 4?! :( I usually do much better on travel "to do" lists.

But bad news, the odds that anyone will see the cave crystals in mexico before they die is pretty high. I'm pretty sure it was closed off last year, and was only ever open to a very select amount of people.

I've heard the same thing. I watched a documentary on it and for some reason I think a scientist died in there on the show - hopefully I'm remembering incorrectly.

- Moraine Lake
- Plitvice
- Meteora

I remember Plitvice and Meteora so well from last summer. To see Meteora, you have to stay in a small town called Kalambaka which is a boring bus ride from Athens. Try to figure out what bus station you need to get to before heading out because communicating at the airport is hard - you end up talking to someone call the "tourist police." This small restaurant in Kalambaka to this day I've never had better lamb, I'll try to find the name of it. Ask the hotel about the local bus that goes up to Meteora, well worth it. It's so fucking hot up there and if you walk to each place by foot like I did, you need your energy! IMO it would be worth seeing Delphi in between. I wish I had organized it better. And book your ferries well in advance for the cyclades.

Plitvice was pretty easy to get to, just take the bus from the main bus station and pay the 100 kuna to get in the park. They have multiple hiking trails around the lakes and doesn't actually take that long at all to do the longest one (~6-7km I think) so take your time and get there early.

Both amazing places. Kobe, you will not be disappointed. Takes a bit of faith that the bus you're on will actually take you where you want to go haha.

If they want people to take this list seriously, they should remove #6 - Great Wall of China and #32 Pyramids at Giza. These two just don't seem to fit in with the other supremely beautiful locations in this list. The pollution en route to either of these places might suggest that you plan them toward the end of your list... just in case.

Amazing, the good thing is that a few of those places are within 3000 km from us!

Thanks for the info man! I am actually going to be buying a car as soon I get to Europe (Fuck Public Transportation)

I will be in Zagreb for a month or two with a buddy, and he said he is 1hr from Plitvice, so I'm 100% sure that will be crossed off the list!

Anything else you would suggest in Europe?

Love lists like this.

You can see #1 (Antelope Canyon), #9 (The Wave, Arizona, USA), #13 (Grand Canyon) and #30 (Bryce Canyon) all in one week with a cheap flight to Phoenix and a rental car. That's 10% of the list right there.

The Wave is definitely one of the coolest natural wonders you'll ever see on this planet. It takes some planning, and you need to apply in a lottery for permits, but well worth it.

Would have to put Iguazu Falls and Perito Merino glacier, both in Argentina, up there as personal favorites as well.

Agreed. For actually personal experience, the 7 wonders are such tourist traps there is no way to enjoy or appreciate them anymore. Overcrowding, locals trying to rip you off, limited vantage points and viewing experience, overpriced and non-stop heckling by merchants every single second. Not one second do you get alone to just look and be left alone. It’s commercialized and tourists are treated like cash cows and cattle to be escorted through and raped for their money. They might have been cool to see 50-100 years ago, now it’s a lost cause. Save your money and go to other more “less travelled” locations. The “7 wonders” is pretty much a trademark to make money off of now and nothing more.

well I have only seen 4. The good news is I am in prime location to see many of those. I am in Bangkok right now and will be heading to Phi Phi islands pretty soon. Many of these are on my list of places to see.

All of Europe?! Uhh maybe give me some places you're going and I'll try to help!

As for Croatia, a bunch of Aussies were telling me about this sweet booze-cruise that goes to a bunch of the Croatian islands and is a heck of a party - goes one way between Split and Dubrovnik. From Dubrovnik, I did some sea kayaking and also a day trip to Lopud. From Split, I did a day trip to see Brak Island to see the Golden Horn (Zanti Rat I think). One month in Zagreb will be a lot but I'm sure your friend will show you a lot of the local things. My biggest suggestion, bring some crocs or buy some booties to wear when going in the water. The rocks are pretty rough just off the beach front.

I think I have croatia set, and I will def be in Dubrownik and Split. I will be staying in Zegreb for a few months, and will be traveling a lot with my buddy.

I will be buying a car when I get to Europe, so I will def be traveling a lot, and really do not have a limit on time as the ticket is a one way. I really just want to check out as much as I can!

Pretty much any driving distance from Poland or Croatia (As I will be living in both those countries) that are "MUST SEEs"

Theres other places to get on the great wall than Badaling where the bus hordes go, I walked for 2 days and didnt see anyone other than the 5 or 6 people I was with. I agree about the 'wonders' having gone to shit for the most part, still worth a look if youre near though.

I've got:
6) Great Wall
12) Moraine
13) Grand Canyon
15) Monument valley
21) Bagan
23) Ha Long bay
24) Angkor Wat
27) Yosemite
30) Bryce canyon
36) Palawan

Not been to many, but that's mainly because this is a list of "natural" wonders and I tend to gravitate towards cities, villages, places of historical significance.

Is #12 worth going to right now. It says you have to time it at a certain time of year.
I'm going to banff next week, or should I just go to Radium for the day :dunno:

That's a pretty good list compared to most.

Where I've been:
2. Phi Phi Islands
12. Moraine Lake
26. Twelve Apostles, Australia
27. Yosemite (was young, don't remember it)
35. Tanah Lot, Bali
36. Palawan (Bacuit Archipelago is amazing)

Some places not on the list that I'd put up at the same level:
Bugaboos, BC
Oparara Basin, NZ
Milford Sound, NZ
Yasawa Islands, Fiji
American Samoa
Juneau, AK (not the city itself, but the landscape all around it)
Denali, AK

Next on my list is to hit up South America, hopefully for a couple months next year.
