My guess is that it's called the 1000 because it blends in with the other 1000 Mustangs seen in a daily North American commute.

Definitely a sleeper, i'll give you that.

200,000 dollar mustang. I think i'll pass. lol

LOL @ "future Barrett-Jackson car"

Some moron will buy one, store it for 50 years and then sell it for the inflation adjusted equivalent of $150,000.

At which time your average Subaru STI will be putting over 1000 hp to the wheels.

so 1000 stands for 950?

I used to love mustangs. Now I know better.

4.95L = 5.0L, 950hp = 1000hp. Close enough right :rofl:

I guess if you factor in the "race fuel" then it's actually pulling over 1000 HP according to the article. :dunno:

I personally wouldn't get one even if I had the money.

I'd dump that 200k into a brand new WRX STI if I had the money... Nothing like showing people what's up with no more than 4 cylinders...

So you can run neck and neck with a Mustang V6 and get blown away but a Mustang GT?:dunno: This isn't 2004 anymore and STI's haven't got faster since then but the competition sure has.

That said I would never shell out this kind of money for a Mustang. The 2013 GT500's with 650HP will probably be nearly as fast and substancially less money.

$150k? For that? No thanks.

I hate to finally type this, but for $50k less, you should just buy a GT-R and smoke everyone.

it's 150k on top of the cost of the gt500 you need to supply for the mods!

1100-950 is 150 hp

why is the quote "They also upgrade the wheels, tires, bodykit, suspension and rear end to go along with the new-found 300-450 horsepower."

Lol, didn't even notice that. At $150k including car I of course considered it, but at $200k, not even once

Not from Ford in 2012. Is that the super-snake you are referring to?
The 2013 has 650hp.

This is for Ford fans, not car guys. Like any other overpriced model of a specific make. For the 200G's you can't get much in 1000hp trim, but it's not like it can put it down. The 2012's have a hard time putting 550 down. First mod for most 2010-2012 shelby owners...rims and tires.
This is similar to the lingenfelter camaros...cool, but you have to like the car an awful lot to spend the dough.
Save 50G's and buy a low-mile GT supercar. Then spend the other 50G on a new 2013 302 LS.

^ Fuck that shit. I thought it was $150k for a turn key car.
:banghead:
No way in hell....

"So honey, what did you do with the $200k you remortgaged the house with?"

" Oh I bought a Mustang...... but its really fast & rare though!!!"

"I want a divorce"

Yeah and have the car last two months before it explodes. Money well spent for sure.

since this car is not released yet i can only assume the writer is stupid and kept writing 2012 instead of 2013 :dunno:

I thought the same. Gotta love accuracy though. I bet they sell 300 of these, easy. So many guys paid top dollar for KR's, and supersnakes. I wonder what the warranty is? Are they using a big 3.6L or what?

Can you explain the difference to me? Ford makes cars therefore is out of the realm of possibility that you can be a Ford fan and a car guy? I'm not a fan of that car myself but I'm also not a fan of blanket statements.

Revhard

It means it's for guys that would have a mustang over anything else, no matter the performance or price.
I'm sure some car guys with collections might buy it, but I would guess these will go to guys with a stable, and this will be the ultimate Mustang. Jay Leno is likely a possibility.
I see it in many variances. Lots of guys buying only one brand due to loyalty or upbringing. I just think this model is an intelligent target at exactly those guys, who are a bit older now, and with some cash to spend on their favorite ride.

I'd buy one if I could, being the Mustang fan that I am.

Yeah, they look better in the video. The dished look on a modest width rim just looks silly. It almost looks like they didn't swap the tires on the video car though. Still look like 285's. I know so many gt500 guys that swap for 305/315's right away, why wouldn't Shelby I wonder?
I hope they are at least a better tire.

The new 2013 Mustang Shelby GT500 is only about $66,000

Great bang for the buck IMO

650HP with warranty :dunno:

Lol $200k for that. No thanks. That is 911 Turbo territory.

I'm sure a GT500 will be 95% as fast in most scenarios and easier to live with day to day at nearly 1/4 the price. A few mods probably brings it even closer.

Didn't they round up the CC on the old Mustangs as well? I read something about them not being exactly 5000 when they first came out.

LOL @ all the STi talk... 1000hp reliably or even putting 200K into an STi   Something about the average STi fanboy tells me they most likely own an iPhone also...

$200k is steep, but not for that kind of power, especially if it's reliable, beefed up drivetrain etc.

There is nothing you can buy for that money that will match that brute under acceleration. And Being A Shelby, it probably carried SOME warranty ;)

What car is there for $200k that will make 1000hp?

What car produced for that price, by anyone close to as legendary as Carrol Shelby?

Now that he is dead, had one of these hit the public, it's easily a $500,000 car right now.

It's not as shiny of a penis extension as a Lambo or Ferrari, but it is one fuck of a lot faster.

You may not be able to get a car that makes 1000HP for $200k but you can probably find faster ones.

I bet a 911 Turbo S would outrun it, and I bet a lot of similarly priced exotics would beat it around the track. That is just my guess though, and I would be curious to see the actual result.

Maybe it's just me but IMO there is nothing impressive about taking a mediocre car, put insane HP in it, and selling it for the price of an exotic. I'd still like to drive one though haha, it would be fun. Just like when I rented a corvette - that was one of the largest POS's I've ever driven, and I'd never buy one, but it was a lot of fun for a week.

I'd take the 200k and buy 2 GTRs! Combine those 2 bad boys and i'll have 900+ HP. Double GTR POWERRR

how about i give you a ride in my car and see if you still can honestly call it mediocre. i agree 200k is a bit much but mustangs are far from mediocre.
just sayin

^^ Lots of jealous haters. I love it. Ford is doing something people will remember in my eyes. When you're a kid you don't go "Hey look Honda is putting out a 51mpg civic" Or "Toyota built a Sports car that has 200hp!!" (Referring to their new sports car) No, you'll remember a Mustang, a MUSTANG that makes 1000hp from the factory. I love it. Who cares about the price tag, it's only for the elite, you can get a 650hp mustang for way less. They need to remember that's still 450hp MORE then Toyota's latest sports car. :nut:

I wouldnt really say Ford is doing it as it goes to shelby for these mods. It is really like a Rousch or Lingenfelter with more heritage.
