And Jessica Biel as Melina, too bad they didn't get Samuel L Jackson to be that cab driver with 4 kids to feed lol. It might not be so bad after all.

I heard this one follows the Philip K. Dick novel a lot closer than the old movie.
Which in my mind makes it OK. I'll probably end up seeing it.

What's funny is that the movie was originally rated X, and the movie had to be recut to minimize blood and gore. I've been waiting decades for a director's cut release of Total Recall. Still hasn't happened yet. :(

Total Recall still is pretty violent, can't remember the last action movie I saw where a guy got both his arms cut off just before two people almost turned inside out... they did some cuts at the end, I think. you never see what happens to the evil businessman

I wonder if the Johnny Cab thing will be as creepy as it was in the original

more i see of it, stupider it looks. This new style of action where the main character looks like he’s in a video game dodging 100 guys shooting at them and performing slow mo matrix like movies make them seem invincible like superman and makes the action totally uninteresting, bland and boring. Heck, Arnold killing 1000 people at the end of Commando had more sense of realism then the stuff going on now. At least that type of action was funny at best. Must be all the CGI effects being used in every single scene that just kills it for me.

in a PG-13 movie? I think that just means twice as much cleavage

special effects look absolutely outstanding. lots of cool visuals. but I think the producers & Colin Farrel very seriously underestimated how hard it is to fill Arnold's shoes

Wasn't a fan of the movie. The visual effects are awesome, but no humor, martians, nor really any plot development. It's a 2 hour chase scene that takes shit from Blade Runner, Fifth Element and Minority Report.

We got the 3 boobs tho.

No spoilers but lets just say the first 1/2 of the movie is the exact same, and the second 1/2 they stray off into more exciting stuff that differs from the first movie. I enjoyed the second 1/2 alot more.

And ya I know the movie is a remake but seriously do they have to copy every single scene in the same order with the same lines? like come on....

Look at Predator Vs Predators remake, that was awesome. That is how a remake should be done. Dont copy the same movie word for word just with different actors like they have done in total recall... Its just boring, I feel like by watching the 1st one was a giant spoiler :dunno:

The original movie, I felt like I was watching a STORY unfold.

The remake, I felt like I was watching a constant car chase scene with explosions, combined with virtually non-existant character development.

I then realized why I love late 80's, early 90's movies, even if they sometimes have cheezy lines/bad acting/poor props/atmospheres; because they do what a movie actually should.

F*&k modern cinema.

Thank you! That's what it is, story telling!

It's a rare thing nowadays. Either the people suck at telling a story or sometimes there isn't a story.

The action and CGI was great, and I didn't expect the remake to come close to the original (who can fill Arnold's shoes, really?). But the movie wasn't good at all. No character or plot development, and the script and dialogue was TERRIBLE. I got tired of it half way through.

the original Total Recall had a little humor in it with cheesy lines and didn't take itself seriously, kinda downplaying the ridiculous premise, but it made for a good movie.

I agree. Arnie moves are just classics...

I did really like Earths global setting in the movie however, they did a good job on that and it was interesting to watch.

F*&k modern cinema. same error 99% of video game designers make these days.

"Wow, look at the graphics..."
"yeah, but the game sucks"
" but look at the graphics!"

Predators is not a remake of Predator. It's a sequel.

I thought it was a good "turn your brain off" kind of movie. Superior in some ways to the original, but lacking in others.

I'd watch it again, and if I find it for a decent price I might buy the blu-ray. Hard to find decent Sci-Fi flicks these days :(

movie was pretty good, definitely alot better parts and worse parts than the original.

better: in the airport when he had the hologram head, they were trying to make it look like he was the lady, same lady(pretty much) from the original that he was, i thought it was a good touch.

worse: pissed me off that he didnt end up going outside on mars and have his eyes popping out of his head, definitely one of my fave parts from the original.

the original total recall is my number one favorite movie of all time. this remake, is not. i don't understand why it had to be a remake. could the plot not have built upon the original storyline? better yet, the 2012 version could have been written as a prequel, casting Quaid as Cohaagan's actual underling, perhaps proving that the original was actually a recall as opposed to an implanted memory.
