Assuming 1 million loonies and 1 million toonies that's ~15 tons of coins.

That's fucked up.

The thread title clearly states there are 3 million loonies, I'm not sure where you get off making assumptions all willey-nilley like some kind of crazy man.

It would be at least 23 tons, or six cubic meters of nickel.

Nickel coins and candy

Stop mistaking the information in the article with the information in the thread. Is this your first time in a ZenOpsian environment?

Looks like they should have kept them in Loonie bins.

At 2007 prices, that would be about $1.2 million worth of actual nickel, assuming they are nickel.

If they were the new "Steel cored" loonies and toonies - They would be worth a little less than $5,000.

Oh how sad currency debasement is, I weep for the generation that is forced to use Iron currency.

I can picture a shit-ton of Brink's officers swinging around those magnets that the strippers use.

What do you think the previous genarations of conspiracy theorists thought when someone tried to convince them that they could have a piece of paper worth $1'000, or a piece of paper that is nearly identical that's worth $1?

Maybe they brought in the experts, hired the strippers to help with cleanup...way easier than having the loonies thrown at their chooch first.

"A private contractor will be using magnets and other mechanisms to recover the dispersed load,"

'private' contractors - the discrete kind, how else would one clean up dispersed loads so well?

Umm....at the risk of sounding rude....WTF is it with your obsession with metal? Is it some inside beyond joke?
If it is I think you're the only one laughing. It's fucking boring.

Nah, its just a commentary on reality.

Most people who are in debt (which is most of the upcoming generation) don't want dollars to be real, or be made of anything real. If you actually had to make someone payback $12 worth of debt with one ton of iron ore (which is reality) most people would run in abject fear of real money - which they do.

Six cubic meters of finished nickel in loonie or toonie form represents 2 months or so of production, for the 30 million citizens of Canada. Which is actually borderline unsustainable, hence the move to iron.

People hate realists. Yeah, Rob Anders hates me too.
