Clean! -- what products did you use on the EK to get that shiny finish?

04-06-2012, 10:07 PM
Oh you know....

04-07-2012, 03:29 PM
Why did you decide to go EK opposed to another RSX or something newer? No hate from me, I love civics to the extreme and think this is awesome, just wondering is all, just wanted a light weight fun mobile?

04-07-2012, 03:43 PM
no hating, it just literally looks like a limp dick. didnt realize you crashed your other car, hopefully this one last longer than a month!

Small update i installed my coil overs, skunk2 lower control arms and ASR swaybar brace. i was disappointed to find out the sway bar didnt fit because of my exhaust >:( the exhaust will need to be modified to install the sway bar.

04-22-2012, 01:09 AM
The shop I work at has them

04-22-2012, 02:28 AM
damn thats light!

04-22-2012, 06:00 PM
lol, some j's racing parts are derpy but people like them because they're j's racing.

Either way, I love your EK so far dude. I really want to do a bswapped ek as well.

04-22-2012, 09:53 PM
Lol why derpy?

i like J's parts because they are unique and well constructed.

04-23-2012, 10:41 AM
derpy because an intake looks like a whale penis and a muffler looks like a limp dick. id call that derpy lol functional, but derpy.

05-09-2012, 08:27 PM
It's been a while since my last update but I picked up my ITR 4x114 brake conversion along with the wheels. Im also slowing piecing together my 99-00 front end conversion I have headlights, fenders and bumper still looking for a hood. I'll be hitting up PnP this weekend in search of both doors, GSR or EG SI subframe and steering rack,GSR master cylinder/brake booster and 4040 prop valve. K swap mounts soon to come. Color has been decided but I'll leave it a surprise for now.

05-09-2012, 08:59 PM

05-09-2012, 09:26 PM
Thanks again CRXguy :)

05-11-2012, 11:22 PM

Test fitment, I didn't have an extra set of hands so I couldn't put the hood on but to my surprise the 96-98 hood fits.... Strange I always thought it didn't (don't mind the grill I only put it there because my 99-00 one is on its way and I didn't want a huge whole in the front lol)

I'm also trying to get my hands on a brand new set of doors which would be nice. SOMEONE BUY MY RSX SO I CAN AFFORD TO PAINT THIS BEAST lol

PS I'm looking for reputable shops to take her to, she needs paint inside and out, welding of the new rear quarter panels (and possible other spots) along with body work. Willing to pay extra for good work.

05-11-2012, 11:49 PM
Screamin Paintworks:thumbsup:

05-12-2012, 12:18 AM
Agreed. Lots of thumbs up on Beyond for Screamin.

05-18-2012, 09:21 AM
Grill came in so decided to finish off the front end conversion

05-18-2012, 10:06 AM
i have doors but their not new.. they do have small dings here and there... whats wrong with your doors?

05-18-2012, 10:12 AM
Pm me with a price, the window regulator on the driver side is fucked and there's rust on both corners of each door

05-18-2012, 12:37 PM
oh yeah mine have no rust but there just shells, you give me whatever you want..:dunno:

12-07-2012, 09:21 PM
Wow it's been a long time since my last update but I have some pretty big updates. The K swap has been scrapped after a long discussion with a wise friend (he slapped some sense into me). The engine will be coming out soon and put back in with some low compression forged internals and titanium valve train.... Yup you guessed it TURBO >:D.

The body will going off for paint soon and the color has been decided, 2012 Porsche GT3 Grey black. I absolutely fell in love with the color and I wouldn't mind seeing it every day :D.

Picked up black Recaros

And CTR power mirrors courtesy of JDM source

CTR side molding ordered, they are much thinner than the CDM model trim nothing crazy just look much cleaner

Front lip is ordered. I'm a big fan or Spoon and Mugen but it seems everyone and thier uncle has those lips and me being me I like being "different" (yeah I no coming from a guy who is boosting a B series). Any ways I went with a First molding lip. This is my first CF lip and I'm not really a big fan of CF lips but they don't come in urethane or fiberglass so I guess it will have to grow on me.

I'm trying my best to tie up my exterior mods before she hits the paint booth so I did some googling of how much I will need to modify my bumper to fit my IC. Some guys go to town and hack up the bumper because the opening on the lower grille isn't larger enough to accommodate a standard IC core. I don't like this.... Soooo I came up with a more interesting idea. Uras triple air duct. I see that stock EVOs and GTRs use this method and I looks pretty cool I must say so myself. Functional and good looking? Yup ill take it.

I was trying to figure out how to feed air to my turbo so I figured I'd need some kind of inlet and ducting to let air in. I really like the idea of have a head light with a duct in it, but driving around with only one illuminated head light is dangerous and probably illegal. I started looking at brake ducts and didn't like most of the fog light ducts on the market.... Just too plain. So I opted for one of these, I'm sure Ill find a way to retro fit it on.... Hopefully lol

And finally enough of the front end lets focus on the assay. When I had my RSX I purchased a shine rear diffuser from a S2000 which I was planning on retro fitting onto it but I didn't get around to it. So it will be going on the EK, from what I read it take A LOT of trimming but fits quite nicely. And I figure if Spoon put one on thier track car it must make it quicker lol

Sigh was does Japan have to be so far away....

Wheels are ordered... by far my most opulent purchase of the build so far so i kind of want to keep it under wraps until i get them. HOWEVER, i will say this, they are a 3 piece forged wheel, 16x8 +26, and made to order....

Finally got around to removing all the interior except for the dash.Ii am leaving in place for now because once the engine is out (hopefully this weekend), i will be relocating the fuse box to the glove box and i need the glove box in place so i know how to route my wires.

im having a hell of a time removing the sound deaden material... ive read on line that dry ice works wonders but i have no idea how to handle it or where to find it. Any input on how to better remove it is much appriciated!! :-\

How she sits now

could have been a cool pic if i had a better camera lol

Roll cage soon to be ordered and then welded in place before paint, im looking for a place to get this done. From my understanding the best or "professional" way to weld in a cage is with the vehicle on a jig... not sure if this is necessary

12-07-2012, 09:22 PM
began stripping the sound deadening material today. I am amazed at how well dry ice works! unfortunately i under estimated how much i would need and i only had enough for the front section of the car. i showed a friend that stripped his interior on his old integera and he was not pleased at all, he said it took him 2 days to clear the section i did which took me an hour tops lol.

it pretty cool as soon as you put the ice on the surface u can hear it popping and cracking

if i can get an engine crane lined up for tomorrow im going to try my best to have the engine out, more to come!

12-07-2012, 09:37 PM
Dude just park it outside overnight (it being winter right now). Sound deadening comes right off. It's how I did my 240sx.

12-07-2012, 09:47 PM
The Grey Black paint should look great. I like that colour.

12-07-2012, 09:57 PM
Excellent choice on purchasing a first molding front lip. It's the best front lip out there for the EK chassis, imo.

Edit: Any plans to shave/tuck the bay?

12-07-2012, 10:03 PM
Gonna be crazy once it's all done! And ya that first molding lip is awesome.

SSR wheels?

I didint want a lack of dry ice to stop my progress tonight so i set my focus on the engine removal. dropped the fluids, removed the rad which happen to shit the bed.

Started removing the harness. this is my first Honda rebuild so i labeled every connector and vacuum line

All thats left now is axle removal and motor/transmission mounts!

Shes calling to me

12-08-2012, 08:13 AM
Dam i thought i was going to be the only one with a first molding lip lol and are you still doing a k swap?

12-08-2012, 01:01 PM
Nope I'm building a low compression B turbo

12-08-2012, 01:30 PM

12-08-2012, 06:07 PM
Great job on the build, I cant wait to see more progress. Man looking at that made me miss my old EK which was probabily the best car I've owned to date.

12-08-2012, 07:55 PM
Thanks guys, I wasn't able to get my hands on an engine crane so I'm kind of stuck... I'm also looking a fender roller if anyone has one I can borrow

12-08-2012, 07:57 PM
You can borrow my engine crane, if you would like.

12-08-2012, 09:56 PM
Drop the engine and tranny together out the bottom with two floor jacks.

Done it tons of times.

12-08-2012, 10:26 PM
Lol but how do I lift the body high enough to clear the engine?

12-08-2012, 10:37 PM
With a jack! Take the wheels off the back and drop the ass on the ground, it helps.

12-08-2012, 10:56 PM
Hmmmm interesting, well I have arranged to borrow a crane tomorrow so ill just wait haha thanks tho!

12-09-2012, 05:25 PM
LOL still cant get over the fact someone called it the limp dick exhaust LOL

I'm going to try this but my exhaust wont be easy to drop. What do you use on the back end to block it up so nothing scrapes?

12-09-2012, 05:40 PM
Just a wood 4x4 under each of the rear LCAs.

12-09-2012, 07:16 PM
ek2.0 has that same diffuser on his ek right? it looks so sick in person

great build thread!

12-09-2012, 10:05 PM
Well i wasnt able to get my hands on a engine crane until today, big thanks to Mike and Matt B. for getting me one!

I took off the bumper so i could start trimming it for my intercooler core if i got bored

and i found this, PnP anyone?

took a brake to shave my pussy

i needed to remove the axles. Yay for princess auto quality

time for an upgrade

I had a hell of a time getting the pin for the shifter to come out and not having the right tools for the job dont make things any easier, but i modified a random bolt to do the job

and with the magic of the internet

Engine bay is going to get a good scrub down. ill be starting my wire/brake like tuck soon!

started the wire tuck tonight, didnt get very far....

the original plan was to relocate the fuse box to the glove back but after some test fitments the modifications required to make it work seem unnecessary. so after a little playing around i chose here

since my car is base model and does not have air bags ill be placing it here, fit much nicer. ill rig something up so i can just pop the dash panel off for easy access.

got the main harness out

bay practically free of wires

tomorrow i will try and get the fuse box mounted and wires soldered in place so i can move onto the headlights next.

Didnt get as far as i want to this weekend, too much other stuff going on but i managed to get the dash out and passenger side completely wire tucked. ill start on the driver side when i get around to it but probably not till after Christmas. building cars near Christmas hurts the wallet and when you brother's Bday (Dec12) and mother's bday (Dec25) are in the same month things can get out of control quickly. so for my brother's bday i polished his car. turned out pretty good, its a 3 stage polish. also the whole front end is 3M including half the hood, before i started the 3M was starting to fade but now u can hardly tell its even there.

What a nice brother!!!

I'm loving the progress! A TON OF WORK.

You needing anything sand blasted?

12-16-2012, 11:31 PM
Not sure if I do but I'll give u a shout if i do thanks!

You know if you crack open the fuse box from the bottom..there are 3 plugs which separate the fuse box from the harness... No need to cut the harness and I moved mine in my glove box just had to push the harness back in though the firewall and plug the fuse box in..

12-17-2012, 12:35 AM
The wires need to be extended that's why they were cut

12-17-2012, 01:35 AM
 Cant wait until its complete!

12-17-2012, 10:56 PM

They reach to where you are putting the fuse box quite nicely without cutting the wires. Just have to fiddle around with the looming a little.

Got most of the sound deadning material off now, i didnt even need dry ice the garage was so cold it came right off lol i guess after this project the garage will need to be insulated.

ill be buying a wire wheel attachment for my angle grinder to get rid of the rest of the residue

i finally got around to removing the dash and finishing my fuse box tuck.

Since all the wiring left can not be completed until reassembly i started getting rid of the stuck on bits of silicone/adhsive left behind from the sound deadning material.

its pretty much all cleaned up i really need to run a vaccuum through the car there is so much accumilated debris and junk left over. she goes for paint very soon! im really excited! how she sits once again

looking good homie!!! ;) when are you installing the bc coilovers (https://bcracingoutlet.com/index.php?id_product=3&controller=product) I cant wait to see this car slammed on the ground!

Big thanks to Rhys and Revwerks for getting me all my parts for this and all my builds, couldnt do it without you!

Test fit the lip, i was shocked i only had to drill 2 holes, the bumper has holes already in it for the other 7 fasteners

(the white on the edge of the lip is tape i put on to prevent scratching)

kind of ghetto but you get the idea

the lower grill will be cut off and i am going to make ducting out of sheet aluminium for the intercooler. My brake duct should be here soon aswell. ill be getting the lip 3M'd this weekend, stay tuned

01-08-2013, 12:48 PM
That's one of my favourite lips for the EK. Good choice.

01-08-2013, 03:52 PM
Thanks! I love it

I'm looking for a fender roller if any one has one I can borrow or if someone knows who will let me rent theirs that would help too thanks

01-08-2013, 04:31 PM
use a baseball bat, put the rims that you wanna use on your car, jack the car up, put the baseball bat into the fender and start rolling with the bat at around a 45 degree angle. lower the car little by little very slowly, as you lower your car more you will get a more agressive roll, but to the exact width of your rims, meaning a nice flush fitment to your tire. i have done it like that on all my cars and every single one turned out flawless, cause all the pressure of the fold is done by you pushing down on the bat, versus twisting a knob to make the roller tighter to your fender, also your fenders are not perfectly straight, and that is the arc that a fender roller wants to pivot on. just my 2 cents.

01-08-2013, 04:33 PM
i should mention this as well, lower the car and stop it, so it is locked in place, roll the fender, lower more, then repeat, it will take around 20-30 minutes a side, but it seriously works very well, you wanna be dropping the car about a 1/8 of an inch every time you lower it, it creates a gradual fold on the panel, use a hammer a little at the start to help create the fold you desire

01-08-2013, 07:15 PM
I can't do this.... I won't my have wheels for at least 2-3 more months the plan is to have the vehicle painted before this time. I'm not going very aggressive with my fitment so that why I want to use a roller, that and I don't own a baseball bat lol

01-17-2013, 09:48 PM
been a while since my last update and not much has happened. My date for paint got pushed back because i shit the bed with my cage, called last minute to get an appointment from a cage and the guy was booked up. Cage to be welded mid feb-march, paint early April if the stars align! I havnt had much time to work on the car latley but i got my front lip 3M'd thanks to my friend and began removing the rear seat brackets. long story short i made a mess of removing them haha i didnt have a spot weld drill bit so i figured i would try with a regular bit.... yeah didnt work, i will need to weld a few patches live and learn i guess.

picked up a set of Energy Suspension master bushing set from a local member thanks!

i am contemplating on getting a set of those Spoon rigid collar washers.... not a fan of the Spoon price tag but seems like an interesting item and since im changing all the bushings to PU why not get rid of all the suspension slop i possibly can. for those of you who dont know what i am talking about

this also came in!

I should have my turbo kit, engine harness (Rywire) and a few other goodies ordered by this weekend. My wheels are still a few months out with is starting to make me impatient! i hate paying for parts that i cant hold in my hands... more to come!

PS: looking for a Hondata S300
