I don't predict any 4 or 5 game series at all. It will be a long first round for everyone. Canucks will get bounced by Sutter's Kings... hilarious.

I'll be cheering for the Blues and whoever plays the Canucks. They are the one team I have a soft spot for given I was a huge fan of Brett Hull as a kid and have followed STL almost as closely as I have my Stars & Flames.

I don't predict them to win the Cup, but I bet they'll beat SJ. After that, hard to say.

That said, I won't watch one second of the playoffs.

Unless I hear the Canucks are about to be eliminated, then I'll put it on (like I did when I saw the mighty Washington Crapitals getting beat in the first round a couple years ago).

I don't want Canucks to make it through but I have a feeling they will. They'll struggle to get there because the Kings will put up a fight; but they will.

If history repeats itself, the Sharks will choke and it'll be a breezer for the Blues. I wouldn't have thought in years that the Blues would become 2nd in the Conference.

I think whoever wins the Philly v Pens series will go to the finals and probably win the cup. In my mind they are the 2 most dangerous teams in the playoffs. That being said, Im a huge Pens fan so I'm rooting for them. My second favourite team will be whoever is playing Vancouver.

I personally think it will go 7 and go either way.

Most entertaining series to watch will probably be pens/flyers

That is true, but I think when push comes to shove the Pens will be able to find that extra gear and get by the Flyers.

Goaltending -- Pens>Flyers -- by a longshot (In terms of proven playoff experience).
Defence -- Flyers>Pens -- Slight advantage to the Flyers.
Offense -- Pens>Flyers -- Malkin and Crosby are proven dominant playoff performers.

Halak or Elliot? Has there been an NHL team that went into the playoffs (or even won) with alternating goaltenders?

Philly... I love the Flyers... but I just don't see it... Penguins have dominated them the last two games, they're playing far too emotionally right now which is I think is why they're losing/struggling.

As long as everyone is healthy and goaltending is not a clusterfuck like the past 2 years, then they have the chance of inching past Sid the Kid.

It's going to be a fun ride for the Flyers.

Haha you mean the 1 game the pens won but the game meant nothing? I think you meant to say the flyers have dominated the pens in the last 2 years. Especially in pitts (5-1 in the last 2 years)

I agree. Thought I wouldn't rule out Boston either in the East.

In the West, Vancouver and St. Louis obviously look good. Vancouver will take it if they can generate more scoring than they have lately. St. Louis will take it if they manage to make other teams play their low scoring style, and their goalie continues to stand on his head.

I don't know about Boston... When they clean up the Caps, the Rangers will be a tough obstacle to conquer.

Ottawa could become the Cinderella team for Canada lol! I'd rather see the Sens hoist the cup for Canada.

I don't see Ottawa going anywhere in the playoffs. I would bet money they're out in the first round... unfortunately.

The Rangers obviously had an excellent team. And perhaps my skewed view is because I haven't seen them play much this season. But if you look at their goal differential, they actually aren't as strong as their point total suggests. If a team can manage to shut down Gaborik and manage to figure out Lundqvist, I could see the Rangers take a 2nd round exit.

The teams I'm cheering for are the Kings and Coyotes in the west, and the Rangers and Bruins in the east.

I was predicting a Kings/Rangers series in the finals since mid-season, but if the Kings are playing the Canucks in the first round I have a feeling that's not going to happen anymore. It's no secret the Kings are a pretty low scoring team that depend almost entirely on Quick for the wins. He'll be a stud, but I think the Canucks will outwork him.

As far as the Penguins/Flyers match up, that's gonna be a good one but I think Bryzy's gonna let in a bunch of softies that will eventually cost them. I'm gonna disagree that the winner of this series will go on to the finals. I think this will be a pretty hard fought, physical battle (especially considering the events of last week) and both teams will come out beat up, which could make it an easier battle for whoever they play in the next series.

The Kings would be an awesome team to cheer for to represent the West, but St. Louis is a powerhouse! Never would've expected it.

Bryzy has playoff experience (although not a hot one) so hopefully it cures what Philly's achilles heel during playoffs. There's also Bobrovsky, just in case.

You are correct with the easy pickings, but dare to hope!

What logic? The season series was even in almost every way, with LA outshooting Van, and Quick is the better goalie. I'm taking LA over VAN in 7.

Western Conference
Vancouver Canucks (1) vs LA Kings (8) - LA in 7
St. Louis Blues (2) vs San Jose Sharks (7) - St. Louis in 5, though I'd love to see SJ win, SJ was the better team the last 10 games but they suck against St Louis

Eastern Conference
New York Rangers (1) vs Ottawa Senators (8) - New York in 7 or OTT in 6, leaning towards OTT

How do you pick the lesser team in LA against vancouver, when you take the Pens over the Flyers when the flyers beat the pens 4-2 in the season series with 1 game that didnt matter?

Pens had a lot of injury problems during the season, about a month ago I think Staal, Malkin and Crosby played maybe 12 games together at that point. How many games did Crosby play against Philly this year? Regardless of what happened during the season Pens are probably the team to beat. Also, Bryzgalov is pretty inconsistent, with the LA vs Van series Quick can steal it, he's a much better goalie than Luongo. Bryz probably won't be better than Fleury.

This series I think is going to be the closest, I actually really like the Flyers, Pens should be the favourites when healthy though.

Yah, and? The penguins are 1-2 with Crosby back, the win being the last game of the year which meant nothing.

Most recent, and if you think those teams weren't out to prove something that night you're kidding yourself.

any gamblers on beyond? someone should start a thread and do daily bets on the games.

We just did a NHL playoffs team auction last night, has anyone been in one of those? it is intense. 8 of us, pot was $2800

Bryz needed to make that save. Crosby goal was kinda lucky. Nothing he could do.

How that's not icing is beyond me. Linesmen fucked up like 4 times that period. Pretty glad the refs put their whistles away though.

Holy that was a crazy fast period! Wonder how long they can keep that up for. Pittsburgh looks scary good.

Good thing for Flyers Crosby has no influence on the game. ;)

Why do you say that? Bad calls led to a goal by each team. Pitts dominate the first Philly played really well the rest of the game.

One certainly worse then the other(I think anyways, I didn't see it in action, just partial reply.). Played continued on as ref motioned. One was an obvious offsides. Like I said, I didn't see the first one fully though. Just voicing off of what I did get to see.

I forgot how annoying it is to watch Burrows and Kesler trying to draw penalties.

GM place doesn't need ice girls or a zamboni for that matter. They can flood the ice with Kesler's tears and Burrows sliding around the ice.
