View Full Version : Network causing a lock up?

- Two identical Toshiba laptops running Vista.

- Both lock up at the "Welcome" screen, but only at the customer's house. The laptops run fine at my shop.

- Customer also has an HP desktop and laptop in the household that run fine.

It's gotta be the network causing the lockup. I'm going to the customer's house tomorrow, and see if the laptops start with the network shut down.

Thoughts?

are they locking up when connected to their home network? how, via wifi or wired?

What happens when you connect to a LAN in the shop ?

Thanks for the replies.

I just got back from the customers house.

Pulled the plug on the Telus 2 Wire, and both Toshiba laptops started.

Cold reset the 2 Wire with new encryption and the laptops started.

:dunno:

Both laptops on domains?

My laptop (on a work domain) shits the bed when I'm connected to a broken network.

Try hardcoding the IP address. It could be a normal timeout waiting for DHCP.
