Magician, maybe when it warms up go on a kids oriented tour/hiking thing in the rockies. I think it would be great if they were discover how cool nature can be, and not vegetating in front of a TV with a controller in their hands.

Heritage park can be pretty cool too, when it opens, same with Calaway park.

house party with lots of food, bouncy castles and video games. thats what we had for my nephews 7th bday, 2 flat screens outside with 2 xboxes setup with 2 controllers on each playing different games, it was a huge hit with everyone, even the parents.

they are young and energetic so they need variety as they dont stay in one place for too long.

We took our daughter/her friends to southland leisure center waterpark for her birthday.

All the kids had a great time.

^^i was gonna suggest a party at a city park that has a playground, soccer field, etc. you could also rent a bouncy house, face painters, maybe a magician or something like that.

Calgary corn maze, if you live in the south. There's another corn maze in the north.

Thanks for the great ideas guys. My son's birthday is in the first week of June so weather has been super iffy the last couple of years. I'm pretty reluctant to plan anything outside since June has been getting a tonne of rain last few years. So far the Rollerblading/rollerskating idea is pretty cool. Keep em coming.

My sons always want to have their birthdays at laser quest. They have rooms specifically set up to do cake/pizza after, and everyone has fun. I like it since I don't need to worry about supervising a bunch of 6-8 year olds in a pool, and it is super easy to do. I even get to take part in the games, and the boys get quite competitive with wanting to shoot me and outscoring me.

In the past for some of the birthdays we have also done a movie birthday at one of the theatres, bouncy castle rental (better for younger kids) and bowling as well.

We took our son to Battlefield Live (Laser Tag) @ CrossIron Mills, and it was alot of fun! not only for the kiddies, but also the big kids (me) Something different than the usual, and they were great with the kids. (Setting up/organizing/free t-shirts/had out own little area)

If you live in the north, and don't mind a bit of a drive, rent out the didsbury pool. It[s a pretty decent pool, hot tub, good water slide, and you can rent the entire place out for a couple of hours. Big enough that you can invite all the friends, classmates, brothers and sisters. they have a "party room" where you can do cake and pizza afterwards.

My brother did that for his kids party, and it was a huge hit.

You can book them to come to your place. They also have pony rides!

Hmmm, this battlefield thing sounds intriguing. So far, rollerblading/skating, and laser tag are looking pretty decent.

The Sheraton on Barlow has a great waterslide and pool that's great for birthday parties. Small enough to keep an eye on everyone. Package includes food and drinks and you can bring your own cake.

If you're hosting at your house, the Petland birthday was a hit. They bring animals to you for an hour or so and the kids get to hold them. Had a puppy, snake, lizards, rabbit, etc.

Calgary Corn maze and just leave them there while you and the other parents get plastered. 12 hours after they find their way out, there's a sweet petting zoo there also.
