Anyone here know of a good place to safely and legally shoot some fireworks close to the city. I have heard they shoot fireworks at ghost lake sometimes. Can anyone go there and do this?

first thing, how do you get your firework in calgary?
second, i don't think calgary allow any type of firework to be shoot in the city limit, maybe go to banff or something.

Theres a bunch of small towns south of calgary that sell them in general stores, e.g longview

Call the fire dept. I'm sure they'll tell no nowhere in the city limits... but hopefully they can direct you to a spot.

Maybe 311.

But actually there's a fire ban for a large portion of the area around Calgary (yes even with all the rain we've been having).

Turner valley Esso sells them, as does the Bearspaw gas station.

You can buy them in Balzac. I think anywhere outside city limits it's legal?

Bearspaw has been closed for well over a year now. I'm sure you can get some at the Ghost gas station. Shooting them at ghost should be fine in the large parking lot. Lots of gravel and if you shot them towards the lake all should be well.

Longview Esso has them for sure.

Longview is where I go. Or if it is super nice I take a day cruise to Radium.

Thanks for the posts as to where to shoot them. I already know where to get them. I will call 311 and ask. If they know anything I'll post it here for everyone to know.

You can't buy/light fireworks anywhere in Calgary? Weird how it varies by city, you can buy them at corner stores back home. Fire them wherever you want.

Well 311 was completely useless. Although they did say that I can go through a day course and get a permit which allows me to use fireworks at my own discretion. Anyways, I am heading out to ghost lake right now. Hopefully I won't get into to much trouble. :D

almost every convenience store OUTSIDE city limits has them. I buy a small stock at gas stations/macs/7-eleven/candy stores/everywhere.

you can launch them almost anywhere outside the city. excluding area's under fire ban or privet property (unless you have permission)

my fun thing is lighting a sparkler candle stick it out the window. roll up window and pinch in window sill. look in your rear view and admire the 15' trail.
