Hey Beyonders,

I am looking at buying a car out of Ontario. I have already got a quote from Hansens on the shipping cost and I know I will have to pay for an out of province inspection as well. I will get a Carfax before I do anything as well to ensure it is clean.

Just curious if anybody has done this before as well without seeing the vehicle? What is the best method of completing the transaction and payment as well so I don't get scammed should I move forward with this?

Thanks!

fly out to ontario, look at the car, pay him, drive it back?

I have thought of that but if I can ship it here for $1400 that makes more sense. It is a 3 day drive, $400 plane ticket, gas, hotels. Doesn't make sense to me although it would be scenic as I have never been there before.

Use carproof. Carfax is useless for Canada.

3 day roadtrip, $400 in hotels, and probably $400 in gas sounds funner and cheaper.

You would probably be less likley to get scammed when you tell the seller your gonna fly across the country to meet him in person.

Road trip it !

there was a story on canibeat about a dude that flew out, bought the car, and he drove it back, he had a very good experience with the seller that owned a BNB

Seriously, road trip it. That's the sort of drive you can make on a long weekend if you plan right, and it's just your luck! There is one coming up real soon! :burnout:
