Recently I saw a totalled rx8 parting out at a junk yard, and I needed a hood and maybe a rim. I was expecting nothing more than 100 bucks for either of the two parts.

The guy one the phone says the hood is 400 and each rim is 200. I was shocked to say the least. In what world is a 7 year old rim and hood worth that?

When I asked if the prices are "correct" the guy gave me attitude and didnt bother to convince me, but to just say its worth that much.

has anyone dealt with forest lawn auto parts?

Seems a little bit high but don't expect kijiji prices from a guy running a business.

Forest Lawn?

They are moronic idiots up there. They wanted to charge me $90 for a pair of hatch struts for my 96 Integra.

I went down to pick-a-part and pay $27 and walked out with struts plus 4 other things.

Forest Lawn (FLAP) is fucking nuts on prices.

Best bet is to join a board that specializes in your model of car and find someone parting out a car.

I've bought a lot of shit for my A4 from Audizine/Eurodrivers/VW Vortex for a fraction of the price of anywhere locally.

Most wreckers in town have terrible pricing, however I can categorically state that Forest Lawn are the worst out of them all. A few years ago I was looking for a replacement side mirror (already had the dealer price) and car-part led me to Forest Lawn Auto Parts. I asked the guy to price the mirror and a couple other items, and he was asking for more than dealer MSRP for the mirror!!!

FLAP & P&S are by far the worst for pricing.

Couple yrs ago p&s wanted 750 bucks for a oem T25 talon Turbo w/ 230k :nut:

:werd: @ FLAP wanting top dollar and more for their parts. When I needed a hood for my Benz they had one there they wanted $400 for it. Drove over to A1 and got a cleaner one for $260 :nut:

this is normal lol, I constantly get quoted retail for parts out of 15+year old cars that have been sitting in yards for years. I think auto wreckers are more for insurance companies.

+1 for specific make/model forums

I went to an auto wrecker on 52 st near glenmore, not sure on the name, and also wanted to charge stupid prices.

I wanted some aluminum rims for my nissan pickup off the pathfinder. I like the lego rim style. Saw they had an ad on kijiji, went into the wrecker and asked how much for the rims.

They wanted something around $350 for the rims. Couldn't/wouldn't guarantee quality or how straight they were, and wouldn't offer a cash refund. They'd only offer in store credit.

Went to pnp/bucks auto, same set of rims WITH tires for $100

^^ Manchester Auto Parts.

They are okay for small things on German cars like hood struts etc. ($25.00 from there, South Centre wanted $220.00 for a new one). It did the job until the parts showed up from Rock Auto.

I've noticed a few different lots getting named here. Are they all newer cars there? What's the age limit at pick n pull, I notice they are only much older cars there

I've also heard of some places selling parts for half the MSRP, and then you can haggle from there
