i've been asked by a client i work for, about the residence (furthest east old building) to under go renovations, but i don't know exactly what's going on there

i've been so swamped at current building working to deadlines, that i haven't yet been able to inquire at campus office for tendered work, but i thought maybe someone could fill in the gaps, and would save me wasting time chasing something further, perhaps unecessarily

is there already renovations started at that building?
if so, who the GC (general contractor) is?

can post or PM
thanks

I have been working there for the past 3 years, did the powerplant and then the new trades complex. But I haven't heard a single thing on the old residence construction...so I can almost gaurantee it won't be PCL.

The unoccupied bldg? There is nothing goin on there, unless things have changed in the last 2 weeks. The building is full of asbestos and is currently used by the CFD/CPS for training.

I dont think even sait knows what they want to do with that building.

^^ intersting, thanks for replies
what kind of training are they using it for?
we do abatement work and also full renos, so probably the reason i was asked to inquire

Yeah thats probably why there hasnt been any talk as to whats going on, all the asbestos and demo work needs to be done.

I used to work in that building before it shut down, the asbestos has been removed for a few years now...its one of the first things done to the building before it was gutted. Now this is according to the contract workers that were in there once we got moved into the new building.

As for training, the last time I seen any kind of action inside that building we're people repelling off the side of the building...and that too was over a year ago.

As adidas mentioned...SAIT has no clue what they are doing with that building, there was even talk about demolishing it at one point after it shut down but some genius built it on that embankment right beside 10th street...so it'll continue to be an eye sore for years to come.

^^ rapelling off the side, that i'd have liked to seen

i thought that building used to be student residence, but i could be wrong? or was it a class room/studies building?

i'll pass on the info
it sounds like a non-starter if they have demolition plans tentatively

thanks :)

^Its always been a residence building, the floors have strange set ups as well, i worked there for almost a year before we got moved into the newer residence (which is now the shit hole of the campus lol).

It was a disgusting building, apart from the asbestos there was a huge bed bug and mice problem in there, I cant even count how often we had the pest guys in there spraying peoples rooms. Felt bad for all the students living in there.

On my last shift before moving to the new residence several pipes burst on the 4th floor and since most of the building was empty except for a few people living on the top floors we hadn't noticed that the pipes blew until the water made its way down onto the main floor and into our office...holy waterfalls batman!!!
