Speeding white truck runs the stop sign and t-bones the smaller truck in just the right spot.

Jumpin' Jesus, that's not kidding around. There are some pretty deadly 4 way stops around

It doesn't take much to roll a truck. I am speculating that one or more of the wheels on the smaller truck caught the median curb just right and rolled it over. I have witnessed first hand a sports car rolling over at low speed (<30 km/h) when its wheel caught some mud while going slightly sideways.

God, I drive through that intersection more than 6 times a day...

It's hard for all the drivers who actually come to a complete stop just because of how "odd" it is...

And then you got the cheif's who just run the stop sign so they have momentum...

Some granny in an SUV doing 70 (swear to god) ran the stop sign coming from the direction of the flipped truck as I was passing through last week (I was going direction pics were taken), and ended up missing me by half a foot... One of those life flashes occured, haha...

The direction both of those trucks had, had stop signs... If your going in the direction of how the pics were taken, no stop sign (not a 4 way stop)

Sounds like the city needs to put up proper lights at this intersection.

Sounds like it would be safer as a roundabout.  :poosie: :poosie:

Just to be clear, I wasn't being sarcastic about a roundabout.
I think they are a great idea and miles safer than traffic lights.

You tend to have a large number of low severity accidents at roundabouts, instead of a smaller number of high severity accidents at stop signs or traffic lights. It's nearly impossible to have a t-bone colision at a roundabout.

oh my bad, thought you were being.

I guess I'm more on the opposite side. The amount of times I have had to slam my brakes in the mckenzie traffic circle to avoid someone driving improperly outweighs the incidents I've had at the stop signs in copperfield.

You can still t-bone someone in a traffic circle, depends how mad you are about a guy in the outside lane trying to take away your right of way

That intersection is terrible.... needs 4 way stop or lights. Or maybe they could hurry up and open McIvor all the way through to 130th.

An intersection like that is close to my house, despite having no stop sign in one direction, whenever I pass through it on the right-of-way I slow down first because I see people fly through it, missing the stop sign all the time. Better to cautious, and maybe annoy people who are actually paying attention then take the risk of getting nailed by one of the ones who aren't paying attention.

I totally agree that calgary drivers are bad at traffic circles, and that accidents are common. That shoudl be reduced once they are more commonplace. However, it's almost always a sideswipe fender-bender and not something that sends someone to hospital.
