So as I am back on the BMW team from a short stint with a Benzo, I wanted to upgrade the halo angel eyes on my X5.

I didn't wanna pay $250 + shipping for the popular LUX version which are definitely awesome. So I found a manufacturer who would give us a good deal for a product.

http://i110.photobucket.com/albums/n120/topher91/HALO0005.jpg

Anyways, if I get enough interest, I will order them.

They will go for $110/pair and will light up all 4 halos.

Please post any interest here!

================================================

SO getting interest in these lights so I will start a list here. I was able to get 2 sets for "testing" purposes but the next order I have to get at least 10. I guess you could order more then 1 set too.

When I hit 10 orders, I will take 50% deposits via Paypal or cash then place the order. The other 50% will be due on pickup/drop-off.

1. jonni44 x 1 Picked up! thanks!
2. sillysod x 1 (deposit paid) thanks!
3. realazy x 1 Picked up! Thanks!
4. 96integra x 1 Picked up! Thanks
5. reserved (non-beyond member) x 1 (deposit paid) thanks!
6.
7.
8.
9.
10.

Shipping time when I ordered was pretty damn quick (less then 7 business days), so when I get 10 sets ordered, it shouldn't take too long at all.

If anyone still wants to see my set in person, hit me up with a PM and I will send you my digits.

Cheers

Potentially interested.

Do you have any more info on the specific product?

topher91

Not really... They are made from Cree LED technology which is the claim to fame as per the manufaturer.

I was able to convince the manufaturer to sell me 2 sets to test out. when I get them, I will post pictures of what it looks like in the daylight and dark.

So keep posted here. Should be less then 2 wks for me to get them.

Chris

Are they the same ones that TopGearSolutions is offering people to test on E90post?

Hmm... not so clear for me.

I have an '09 "LCI" E90 335i.

I did some checking (ebay, vendor sites, etc.) and it seems there's always a distinction between pre-LCI and LCI cars, whether they have xenon or halogen lights stock, etc. which affect which angel eye kits will be compatible with which models.

k well.............. Last time I serviced my BMW they told me a conversion kit for my halos would be around 8400 bucks. no lie.

my cars over 100k, you drive a nice car too, why haggle around for 100 dollar kit.. I would gladly pay for a conversion, but that prices seems way too low, and looks like a risk. the other day, I saw an older bmw with this conversion, and it looked like shit.

Im down for trying out something, but only if its the best, and it works... that picture above looks like it works, but you really have no idea what kits in that x5

Buddy....its a light bulb replacement.

This isn't meant to add halo angel eyes to cars that do not have any to begin with.

The angel eyes are run off an H8 halogen bulb. These simply replace that bulb with an LED light bulb to change the colour. But sinceLEDs require less Watts to operate, there's a module attatched to the bulb that tricks the computer to think there's still a full electrical draw of power so there are no errors.

Ya get??

I'm not making anyone buy it!! Just thought some people would like to try it ti have a different look because honestly I think it looks better then what is currently there.

I'm guessing InRich has a 2011 X5 which has the halogen Corona Rings and the dealership offered to upgrade him to the new OEM LED Corona Ring headlights. So that cost was for two new housings and labour, which would be the 8k.

But I'd be interested to see how yours turn out. I'm undecided on my e90. I would rather have bright halogen Corona Rings than dim white LED Corona Rings.

Off topic...but how are your fender flares holding up??

We did a few under warranty from bmw. Seems like a big problem. Just wondering if they started putting rock guard on em now.

they'd look like fucking GARBAGE if Jed didn't 3M them for me when I first purchased the car. I wasn't even going to 3M them until he told me that they would get fucked if I didn't.

what do you mean you did them under warranty?

I'm not trying to haggle. I've got no problem with the price.

But even $100 is a waste if I order a kit that's not compatible with my particular model.

I was just trying to clarify the compatibilities.

Oh I work at an autobody shop. Some customers came in, complained to the dealership and we refinished the flares. The dealership paid the bill.

I think they are putting the stone shield on them now.

Sorry no idea how they compare yet. I have never tried either of them...that is why I am trying this for everyone to see what they are like.

Burger is selling a Halogen light as compared to these ones I have ordered which are LED's.

I'm not sure but LED = Brighter then Halogen??? That's my guess.

I saw those units too. I googled it and came up with this link:

E90 with new 4 LED Angel Eyes (from Topgear Solutions) (http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?p=12037159)

The picture of the unit looks VERY similar to the ones I think I have ordered!

The 4 LED bulbs look alike. Wonder if they're all just same manufacter but re-labelled.

Probably yes. They all seem to sell them for around the same price too. Just slightly different casing, name etc.

OK kids,

Don't get too excited... It was about 9pm when I installed them so sunset today was 945pm. So it was getting pretty dim. The sun is directly behind me, so the car is facing directly at the sun.

Here is the actual lights:

http://i110.photobucket.com/albums/n120/topher91/HALO0002.jpg
http://i110.photobucket.com/albums/n120/topher91/HALO0001.jpg

WOW they do not feel cheep at all. Very heavy/dense for their size. the heat sink is built in. There is a separate unit which these plug into to "trick" the OBC that these LEDs are still drawing the proper wattage. There are no errors or visible flickering on these LEDs so far.

Here is a head on shot of the OEM halogen halo. Notice the colour.

http://i110.photobucket.com/albums/n120/topher91/HALO0003.jpg

Next pic, installed LED on driver side. OEM on the passenger side. Pic 1 is f/4.5, exp 1/100 sec, ISO 400. Pic 2 is f/4, exp 1/320, ISO 400.

http://i110.photobucket.com/albums/n120/topher91/HALO0005.jpg

Last pics are of both LEDs installed.

I will try and get daytime shots tomorrow, or following day. Its my wifeys ride and she's off to Red Deer for work tomorrow. :guns:

So far, the lights look great. TRUST ME, it is hard to capture the look of these on a camera and I'm shooting with a not so awesome Cannon XSi.

Anyone want to meet up and compare their LUX or whatever else?

I have one more set which I will test with my parents E91.

keep posted!

nice~~ i can still imagine how bright it would be though. I know cameras don't capture the full brightness of led angel eyes. especially on the outer ring.
but it seems like the 4 led 10 or 12 watt as well? if so as far as i know its the brightest led angels out there

Honestly, yea for the price!

I've been looking at pictures of lots of other products including LUX, and from pictures, they don't look much different then these do.

The results will differ between car models so I will still install another set in my parents 3er wagon and take pictures too.

All the reviews I have seen for the various lights have all been for 3 or 5 series. I have seen maybe a couple for an X5.

The manufacturer couldn't confirm for me if they supply Top Gear Solutions with the same product probably due to privacy laws etc...but she did say they were the same quality.

I swear, read that post on E90post in the link above...these are exactly the same as LUX. Everything the guy says, picture angles, time of day, direct sunlight pic...all the same as these.

From pictures, I can't tell the difference. :dunno:

For a baller such as yourself I would suggest:

1. Retrofit 2012 X5 LCI headlights (Most expensive but OEM)

2. OSS Designs custom LED angel eyes (They use umnitza led rings and you have to ship to them for the install. They can also blackout/tint/clear turn signals and blackout your housing)

3. ONEighty aka 180custom (They use led orb rings, they only sell you the rings and you have to DIY)
