My two older drives died a while back and I finally got around to sending them in for RMA. These are "certified repaired HDDs" from Seagate and just arrived yesterday. I'm pretty sure these drives are brand new, since my understanding is it's not worth the effort for hard drive companies to fix defective drives. I haven't even taken them out of their static bags yet. Both drives are still on warranty until July 2013, I believe.
