Has anyone used this before for polishing or is it not powerful enough?

1650 rpm* sanding speed
1400 rpm* polishing speed

Is this one junk like the Simoniz ones at Crappy Tire?

Looks like nobody has experience with this one.

Have you used rotary before?
A DA is a much better choice if you never polished before.

Dual action, it doesn't spin in a perfect circle and is better if you're a newb. Less chance of doing damage.

Bingo. It's hard to burn through the paint with DA (unless you try.... trying REALLY hard). With a correct pad and polish combo, you can correct just as well (90-95% correction) as a rotary using a DA... just not as fast.

^ sweet. What is a decent DA I should be looking at? Would it be able to correct orange peel?

No I don't actually. I play on reading up on it quite a bit before I attempt anything and have access to many spare fenders, doors, hoods etc I can practice on

The most common Dual Action polishers are Porter Cable and Griot's Garage.

Pricing is about the same, Griot's $139 Porter Cable (PC) $149, Griot's has a 6.5 amp motor(includes an instructional DVD) and the PC has a 4.5 amp motor.

We have both units in stock and ship to Calgary on a daily basis, orders placed will generally arrive within 3 business days.

Here is our full listing on polishers and kits. Link to Polishers and Kits (http://www.autoobsessed.com/shop/polishers-kits-bundles-c-59.html?osCsid=ab04bj69gniiq9mvk9i0iltc02)

Good thinking. Orange peel can't be corrected simply by polishing. It must be wet sanded first and then proceed to compound and polishing.
