A hub and some patch cables, then your good to go.

network cards on all the comps...if your wanting to go online too, you need a certain cable from hub to modem...parrallel cable or something, i forget...

get a hub, plug everyones computer into said hub and assign ip's and you have your network!

Make sure you use a switch and not a hub otherwise you'll have a lot more collisions on the network!!

If you don't want to assign IP addresses for everyone yourself, the easier way is to use a router since it'll assign addresses for you (you'll need to make sure all machines are setup for DHCP).

Crossover cable, if your hub/switch isn't autosensing

No no no no.

You are having a LAN gathering. Hub/Switch + patch cables (straight throughs). You need a crossover if you are going direct from PC to PC. Most hubs/switches have a switch that lets you avoid needing a crossover to the router/modem.

Holy Fuck!

How much juice is that place sucking up?

With that amount of power, we could provide an African village with electricity for a month.

LOL

Heh nah, I think that was the Biiiig counterstrike/quake3 tourney down in the States. But yah, the Counter-strike contest in Edmonton one is pretty big too - you bring your case and I think they provided monitors if you didn't bring yours. You could sleep in the building or go to a hotel.

The main reason to do them is you're pretty much guaranteed to be hacker free. I wanted to go last year but most of my team was in Cali. :(

yo man lan parties arent just nerds who play games like balance the equation its about hangin out with your friends and beating the @!#% out of them in halo or warcraft cool games like that its about doing things in games that you cant do in the real world like blowing %$#@ up (grand theft auto) and when your on the net you can run your mouth in some foreign country and laugh at them when they loose. yeah quak3 is a tight ass game fereal!

i dont know everybody's got there own styles but is there anyway to play without paying 60 for a router or switch(hubs are for usb's).
thanks
