Going to be firing up the engine on my project car in the near future, it's an older engine with solid lifters so I'm looking to either run a high ZDDP motor oil or run a standard motor oil with a ZDDP additive. What would you guys suggest? Only thing I've really found is valvoline VR1 race oil.

I ran Brad Penn in the Civic.
Delta 272-2 camshaft and non-hydraulic valvetrain. Wear on the rocker pads was my concern, and why I used Brad Penn.

Amsoil Z-ROD 10W-30 or 20W-50. Specifically designed for flat tappet cams and lifter with loads of ZDDP. I can get you some if you want at a decent price.

I can sell the 10w-30 for $8.91 per quart plus shipping and taxes. The 20w-50 is a little more. Basically my cost + 10%.

I use Cam Shield assembly paste on the lifters and cam lobes, plus their one-shot oil additive. So far so good, with the last two camshaft swaps. Lordco sells it, not sure who in Alberta:
