Looking into a Honda mower. Borrowed a few and seem to do a great job. Looking into purchasing the HRR2168PKC.
http://powerequipment.honda.ca/lawnmowers
Also interested in checking out a few of the Husqvarna's. The ones I have looked into also have a Honda motor.

A self propelled Craftsman unit from 1992. Beat that! :)

I detest Briggs & Straton but the one this still works great, never an issue of any sort.

Same with this other B & S mower we use at the farm, but thats from the mid 70's.

I've had the 2168 that you're looking at for three years now, great mower, no complaints. Like Kevie says, get one.

Haha... we've got an older Craftsman that I've been planning to replace for the past couple years, but it still starts on the 3rd or 4th pull everytime even though the only maintenance I've done in years has been an oil change or 2.

2009 Craftsman with a Honda 190cc 4 stroke engine. Starts the first pull everytime, quiet and powerful.

I have a briggs and straton pressure washer, loud as fuck and probs galore getting it started. Gonna sell it this year and pick up the pressure washer with the honda engine.

EDIT: Sorry, i mower is a 160cc not a 190cc. My bad.

Forgot to add, Sears also carries a tune up kit for the mover: replacement air filter, exact amount of oil required, spark plug and fuel stabilizer. You can pick this up every year and change everything at the start of the season.

An early 90s landmark with a b&s 4 stroke 3.5hp. First pull every time, push the prime twice and she goes, started right up after sitting untouched for 3 years...

But I gotta get me a rider, this new place is way too much for a 21" push...

Sector9 knows more about mowers than anyone else on here, PM him. I know that John Deere, Ariens, Toro etc all are made at 1 of 2 factories. There is no difference between Yardworks and something else except the motor, paint color and some plastic trim pieces to make them look different.

I have a MTD mower that is probably 10 yrs old with a Tecumseh engine. Horrible and cheap mower, but it lives outside all time and it starts everytime.

Everytime I go to Home Depot I fight the urge to buy a new mower, but I just can't let myself do it until the MTD stops working.

Really? Crazy I didn't know MTD was around way the hell back then. I didn't think they were any older then mid to late 90's at best.

We have a 1980 Case 448. With an 18hp Onan.
Its a catastrophic POS though, I swear to god it was designed by high school kids.... everything about it is just "WTF???"

Still never broken down or given us any trouble but wow some aspects of it was very poorly designed.

I have a somewhat small yard so I opted for the Homelite Cordless 17" mower.

I've mowed it 3 times and the charge is still showing 100% so I'm happy. No gas to worry about and no cords. Its quiet and isnt stinky.

Only issue is the battery cannot die and freeze, its just like any battery. So in the winter, it must come inside and remain in the basement with a charge.

I'll go gas again one day, but for a small home with less green space electric makes a crap load of sense.

Received a self-propelling Poulan Pro with a Honda 160cc motor as a house warming gift and I swear to god when the trigger is pulled vtec kicks in yo! :poosie:

Definitely get a self-propelling mower if your lawn is on a slope. It'll get the job done quicker and with less effort.

Gonna take this thread a bit off topic (it is somewhat relevant). I have heard leaving grass clippings on the lawn is better than collecting them. Is this true? I mow the lawn every week and do not have a mulching lawn mower. Should I just collect them or leave the clippings on the lawn?

There are also some dandelions that I am trying to get rid of (using a weed killer) should I collect until they are gone or just leave them on the lawn to as I use the weed killer after I mow the lawn.

The reason lawns grow so fast and thick is because leaving the clippings acts as constant fertilizer..

A hay field or crops needs fertilizer added, because the plant uses the nutrients to grow and is then removed from the field, depleting the nutrients - where as lawns have a continual cycle of renewing itself.

I dont believe in the dandelion racket... Who cares if there is are small yellow flowers, its just a money grab trying to kill those things.

I've got a battery mower and I won't get one again.

I don't know my make/model, but you can't cut the grass if it's slightly damp, nor can you cut it if it gets too long. With how our summers have been, you can understand that this causes problems.

If you want to store the mower in a shed you have to run power to it, otherwise it's sitting somewhere else, usually inconvenient, charging.

In winter you can risk leaving it in your garage or you can take the 50lb batteries out and bring them inside. If/when the batteries die you're spending $80 + shipping to replace them.

Maybe the grass is always greener (pun intended) but I miss just pouring gas and mowing whatever I want, whenever I want, then throwing it back in the shed.

Wow thats nuts, I didn't know White made or at least branded lawn tractors. Yeah we have a rotor-tilling attachment for our Case. It just bolts onto a rear raising/lowering rear deck. Works quite well actually, hydraulically powered. Haven't used it in at least 10 years though.

I currently run a small Motormaster electric lawn mower that is designed for the typical tiny Calgary lawns.

It is woefully undersized for my 60 x 120 lot here on the Island.

I have been searching for some time for an old school Lawn Boy two stroke mower, more for nostalgic reasons, but haven't been able to find one... thus, I torture myself every other weekend with the little electric mower.

I have a 20+ year old Craftsman with a Briggs and Stratton 6HP engine.

Every year I vow to get rid of it and the thing just won't die.

I used it for years on my summer lawn mowing job, and it's still going strong. I finally decided I wanted a rear bagger, and bought another Sears B&G one in 2005. All I've done to it is change the oil once, and I mow every other weekend for about 5 hours.

It will be no different than any other lawn mower you get at Home Depot or Lowes. Craftsman, John Deer, Ariens, MTD etc are all made at the same place. Just different paint.

Unless you get a commercial one from Arns or something they are all pretty much the same.

For riding mowers:

Toro makes Toro and Lawn Boy.

MTD makes all of the store brands (i.e., a mower that might have the Home Depot name on it), along with MTD, Dynamark, YardPro, Weed Eater, Noma, and Sears Craftsman.

Murray makes MTD.

MTD makes the low end (non-commercial) John Deere tractors.

John Deere makes all John Deere commercial.

MTD makes White (non commercial).

White makes White (commercial).

American Yard Products makes MTD, Noma, Dynamark, YardPro, Weed Eater, Sears Craftsman, and all store brands.

I have a Solaris SP21HB, 3rd summer now, not a single problem. Backyard is larger than average, and I could get about 1.8 mows out of a charge. I don't bother trying to push it anymore. I just pop out the batteries, take them to the garage and plug them into charge for the next week, and roll the mower into my shed.

^ Does White still make anything? They were originally a conglomerate of 2-3 tractor manufacturers in the mid 70's, then formed White.

I thought White was bought out entirely by another company, or they just went bankrupt as the most recent White tractor (or in this case lawn tractor) I've seen from them was mid 80's at best.

White was bought by AGCO years ago and fizzled out I believe. They were still around in the 90s though in farm machinery.
