I am wondering if anything has changed since I was riding last, specifically when you can ride with a Class 5.
Back in the day, you could ride with a class 5, as long as you were riding in the presence of someone with a class 6. IE: on another bike with a class 6, as a passenger on your bike with a class 6, or someone with a class 6 in a vehicle travelling with you. Didn't require anything else.
Has anything changed in this regard?

awesome, for some reason I was under the impression I was going to have to go write some practice exam or some stupid shit.
Fuck I wish my class 6 never dropped.

You're right, Class 5 is the learners for the Class 6. No matter what anyone tells you about the written portion of the Class 6 it is just that.

I know you can take your class 6 with a class 5 but when I got to the registry I needed to learners permit for them the give me my class 6.

First is written, then the road test. You need both to get your class 6 but you don't need either to ride a motorcycle legally.

Class 6 drops?
It wasn't supposed to. A long time ago, before the internets, I was a young man. At 16, I got my class 5, and then a week later got my class 6, and a few weeks after that, my class 1. When I turned 21, I decided not to renew my medical for my class 1, and when I went in to renew my licence, because I didn't have my medical, my class 1 dropped to a class 3. When they renewed it, the dropped it to a class 3, and my class 6 disappeared. It took me a few years to notice, and when I did, I went back to the registry office and was told that because it had been more than 3 years, there was nothing that could be done, nor could it just be re-added.
