Torn between these two beauties. Been eyeing a large watch for a weekender.

I have been pretty set on my first U Boat Classico until I came across this Lumzilla.

Need some opinion!!

Lum-Tec Lumzilla LZ4 Eurozilla - $649.00 (pre-owned)
(Limited #42/50)

Lum-Tec all the way, i just love the look over the plain classic look of the U-Boat, the Lum-Tec's lines are so crisp and clean.

Not a fan of that huge "winder"? on the U-boat. both are sharp looking watches those. Its seems that Lum-Tec has gather popularity in the last several months. Good on them, I sure do want one haha:drool:

Do you wear your watch on the right or left hand? If you wear it on the left, it looks like the U-Boat's huge winder is on the left side, so that would dig into you.

I dig the Lumzilla, but I'd probably chose the U-Boat of the 2.

I'm not a fan of the blue face for the Lum-Tec nor the crown on the left side for the U-Boat.

Out of the two though... Lum-Tec. Looks cleaner and classier.

That U-Boat is just too pronounced.

I'd pick the U-boat
not a big fan of colored dials unless black or white and I don't dig the roman numerals

The lumzilla is a 50mm watch. That's pretty pronounced

A good reason why I haven't bought a U-boat yet. Big watches never appealed to me.

To answer OP, I'd take the Uboat. I like Lumtec, but I don't think the quality is on par with the Uboat

I like big watches, but holy shit that's ridiculous.

the 45mm UBoat isn't that bad at all. My Lum-Tec's are 44mm cases and I think they work for me. I think 47 would be about as big as I would go.

But your wrist may vary

Excessively big watches are about as cool as a flat-brimmed hat w/stickers and affliction/random mma gear/skin industries/fox t-shirt and white sunglass combo.

In a diesel truck with wakeboarding stickers.

keep your sask douchebags to sask please, dont need to give people anymore ideas out here

but generalizing watches like that is rather rude. its more of a wrist to watch ratio than just the size of the watch. if you are a big boy a 39mm classic sized watch is going to look weird, just as if you are a little guy with more of a ladyboy physique a 50mm watch will look weird

That Picture of the Lumzilla is ridiculous. It does not look nearly that big. I'm wearing mine today - I'll post a comparison shot for you.

http://i1010.photobucket.com/albums/af229/mm99lude/Lumzilla2.jpg That is a 1.25" paper clip

My wrist circumference is 7.25"

Hope that helps.

out of curiosity, what would these watches retail for new? I always thought it was a lot more expensive to get into these types of watches even if buying used.

Lum-Tec's vary between $400-$1000, with the difference being quartz and automatic (swiss or japanese mov)

uBoat's are up there in pricing, but you can find a used one (depending on model) for significantly less.

I paid around $4000 for my flight deck in Vegas a couple yrs ago at a jewelers in the MGM Grand.

But anything under $5000 really is pretty entry level for watches.
