Looking for somewhere decent, casual dinner or drinks place.

Only places I can think of are Hudsons and Moxies really. Would like to avoid Starbucks/coffee place. I think there is a Keg in SouthTrail Crossing but it might be a bit over the top for first date?

I would go to Plaka's, best Greek food in this side of town IMO. Aside from that you'll be subjected to the Moxies and BP type chains.

Why do you have to stay in Shawnessey?

I've done the Phoenix grill, great atmosphere.
Moti Mahal in Midnapore, OJ's just opened up on the East side of McLeod Trail across from Shawnessy. Sushi Me in midnapore is also pretty close by and good sushi.

x2. Went there last night for date night. Always really friendly and hot waitresses. Food is good too.
Had a Caesar, entrees for both of us and bill came to $52.

Hudsons is very loud but a lot of hot girls walk in so you might be able to pay attention to your original date

I'd say Plaka or Phoenix Grill as well, unless you want to venture across McLeod and hit up Cattle Baron. Just stay away from Mr. Schnapps and "Shawnessy Vietnamese Restaurant" lol

Well, Phoenix Grill will definitely get more business from me.

It was a bit loud about 7-8, but after that it was ok. Food was great, good portions and decent price. Total was about $50, including tip, for main and drinks.

Thanks for the suggestion:)

Glad to see all the support for the Phoenix Grill! Very happy you enjoyed it. It does get very loud with the open kitchen, but it can also add to the atmosphere I think.

Thanks for coming for the first date, glad we were able to make it a good one for you!
