Maldives travel this winter

Im looking at traveling from Calgary to the Maldives (flying into Male) and spending 2 weeks at one of the resort islands. Has anyone been before or have any recommendations on where to book. I've tried all the usual travel websites but I'm having an issue finding some of the hotels that have been recommended to me. Should I use a physical travel agent? If so anyone have any recommendations?

Which resorts/places where you trying to find that were recommended?

Have you tried trivago.com yet? I've been using them alot lately for travel throughout Europe, and they always seem to get me the best prices compared to others that are more 'well-known' (ie. Expedia, etc.).

In terms of specific resorts, my friend has been to Anantara Dighu and loved it (http://dhigu-maldives.anantara.com/). Also #4 of 22 on TripAdvisor for South Male, but their rates are really good as well (relative).

I've also been to two other Anantara resorts (not in Maldives), and can't say anything but good about them. IIRC they also have 2-3 other resorts in the Maldives, depending on where you're planning to be. Check it out!
