Anthony Davidson in hospital after Le Mans 24 Hour race accident

Britain's Anthony Davidson is in hospital following a huge accident five hours into the Le Mans 24 hour race.
His Toyota flipped into the air and crashed heavily into a barrier after being clipped by Italy's Piergiuseppe Perazzini's LMPGTE Ferrari.
A Toyota statement said: "Doctors at the circuit have confirmed that Anthony is suffering from shock and back pain.
"However, there are no signs of any injuries and he is walking and talking with no problems."
Perazzini walked away from the accident but Davidson, 33, was treated by medical staff at the scene. The race continued behind the safety car for more than 30 minutes as marshals reconstructed the tyre wall which had been badly damaged by Davidson's car.
The Hertfordshire-born driver was taken to a local hospital for precautionary checks.

Ya, that was a huge crash. The Ferrari didn't see the Toyota and just turned in. The second Toyota crashed into the Deltawing Nissan and is not in contention for the win anymore. Toyota should bring 3 cars just like Audi next year.

Nissan driver was LUCKY that his car flipped back upright and had the downforce work to slam him down onto the track, otherwise he would have sailed right over the barrier

It was a Toyota for that one with the Ferrari, the Nissan Deltawing crash was with the 2nd Toyota, not as epic but still pretty crazy cause when i saw it i thought the Nissan was gonna explode into pieces but it just bounced right off the barrier like a bumper car

As a quick reminder, the Nissan DeltaWing has been officially presented to the public earlier this year and the race car has been tested by the company’s motorsport division at the Sebring track in March, where it was tweaked for one last time ahead of its final test, the 24 Hours of Le Mans. The Nissan DeltaWing is powered by a 1.6 liter turbocharged engine, with DIG-T (Direct Injection Gasoline – Turbocharged), which is developing a total output of 300 HP. The Japanese race car weighs just 590 kg with a full tank. The Nisan DeltaWing is being driven by Michael Krumm, a former FIA GT1 world champion, by Mario Franchitti, best known from IndyCar and by his brother, Dario Franchitti.

Davidson was tweeting from the hospital how he wasn't expecting to finish Le Mans in the hospital with two broken vertebrae.

Sucks for the DeltaWing. After it crashed the team went to the fence by he crash site and started talking the driver through the repairs. The driver pulled apart and repaired the differential but he couldn't get he car started again. Sucks for Franchitti though, put so much into the project and didn't have a chance to drive the car.
