Need ideas to bring a girl for a special day. Any suggestions? :D

I don't wanna do something like Banff or Canmore, cause those places feel kind of typical, and also because she's from there.

I've heard that Waterton Lakes National Park (near the border) is pretty nice, can anyone vouch for that?

Waterton is sooo nice. One of my favourite places to go. Its a little further than your 3 hour limit. Vimy's lounge has great food. you can do the boat tour, just keep in mind Waterton is pretty much always windy.

I definitley vote for Waterton. Its gorgeous.

You could always take her to the Columbia Icefields. Theirs a hotel right nearby called Num-Ti-Jah Lodge and its right on this really nice lake.

I've heard good things about Emerald Lake Lodge. Romantic and not your typical Banff escape. http://www.crmr.com/emerald/ If your a baller.

Vote for Emerald Lake.. No motorized boats are allowed on the lake so you won't hear the buzzing noise of seadoos or motorboats.

I totally forgot about this place. Saw it when I was doing the hike to see Burgess Shale and thought damn, that's a wicked little spot. Remember seeing people out on canoes, seemed really chill out there.

+1 for Waterton, the main reason being something Rat Fink touched on. There's less people, and the people that are there are much more pleasant to be around. I'm sick of Banff just because there's always the group of 17 year old girls that need to shout everything they're saying.

If she's FROM the mountains, then why not book something IN the city, like a night at the Kensington Riverside Inn or the Paliser? There's plenty of nearby restaurants and they'll also allow you to explore parts of the city that you otherwise wouldn't think about.

My friend used to do this. There's really no need to be out and about. He really enjoyed the Kensington Inn. Otherwise if you must go out of town, there's also Rafter Six Ranch and Nakoda Lodge to name a few that are very close by.
