I'm in McKenzie Lake. You can catch some kick ass sunsets from Crecent Heights or Scottsmans Hill if you want nice CityScape sunsets. If you're looking for nice Ones like these but you're more north, try out on High Way 8 near spring bank, or Westhills.

My pics don't hold a candle to the other pics in the thread, but figured I would share a couple I have taken with an el' cheapo digicam.

The sun bouncing of the buildings in downtown gives a neat effect as well.

That's one of my favorite things about sunsets in the winter. It gives this really funky blue glow because of the snow and clouds.

On a side note, anyone notice how incredibly bright the Calgary Tower is now that they've repainted it??? It's blinding!!

Melinda, I finally got a windmill one. 1/80 on a monopod.
I was going to blur the blades but I couldn't get it to look real enough. The bordering of the branches is questionable. Color is enhanced a lot too. I'll pm anyone and example of the original if they want it to see the difference.

Curves, contrast, hue and sat, I lightened up the dark mountain area to show the silouete of the windmill frame and added a black to blue gradient over the mountains.
Smart and Gaussier blur were done to the sky. Unsharp masking to the windmill frame.

Here's a couple I shot in Vancouver several years ago that I finally found. No filters were used only a slight exposure adjustment.

benyl

Nope, those are staight out of the camera. 6 second expsure at F32.

Didn't even adjust the levels or contrast.

Ahh I guess the f32 would have done it then. :)
