STI Pedal Pad Set

What's the benefit of this? At first glance I would think that the metal parts would be slippery with rain or snow. Would you keep the stock pedals or get this for everyday, normal, real world usage (not racing)?

Never driven an STI, but if they do indeed look like this http://www.boomplustoys.net/images/sti/STI_pedal_set.jpg then they look alot easier to to heel and toe, with the extension coming off of the gas pedal. There are rubber bits in the circles by the looks of it, which would give it better grip over pure metal.

And aluminum sure looks alot nicer :)
