What the hell, Tom tom going to do street view too? You know I'm all for competition but this is just a total waste of effort.

The new maps system they are using on the new iOS and iPhones are using GPS data provided by Tom Tom. If they want to compete with google, they at least need to be able to do the same things google does.

Well again I'm all for competition, its the best way to spur innovation which street view is/was. Tom tom isn't exactly a huge company so I hope they're getting a lot Apple dollar help to make this service at least as good as Google street view if not better. Even still mapping the world can't be cheap.

I saw a TomTom van on 17th and 52nd. At first I thought it was a Google van and then was disappointed not to get my car on Street View.

Saw it at Center St and Beddington Blvd.
Current street view of that location shows the gas price back then was 82.9

Apple and Google aren't getting along anymore hence Apple wanting to get rid of Google in the iOS entirely.

Doubt TomTom or anyone would be willing to spend the kind of resources Google put in to their street view and maps though.
