Well this sucks.

I park my bike, shower, change at my company's other building which is a block away from mine. I'm allowed to do this because we own the whole building.

Well they're moving into the building next door... which is a shared building. So I've been told I won't have access.

I guess my only option will be to get a gym membership. The gym downstairs (5th Ave Club) didn't offer locker room only memberships 2 years ago when I last inquired, guess I'll ask again.

Damn I hated feeling sweaty and gross all day before I had access to the shower in the other building.

Can anyone suggest anything else?

What I'm saying is a don't NEED a gym membership.... I'm biking to work every day. I just need a place to shower and change.

Hope it doesn't come to masking the stench. :barf:

2 options:

1) Mexican Shower.
2) Italian Shower.

I have my doubts there are any free places to shower and change that don't require a gym membership or building keycard access.

Of course you could always go here (https://maps.google.com/?ll=51.046011,-114.059168&spn=0.000666,0.004128&t=m&z=19&layer=c&cbll=51.046011,-114.059168&cbp=11,0,,0,0&photoid=po-6997196) ;)

This is not to come across as extreme, or as a complaint. Perhaps you could contact your HR rep and see what options are available?

eg. Mention how you appreciated the shower facilities in the former building, and see if they can offer something that is similar?

note: Might be beneficial to mention how you bike to work as choice of living a more healthy lifestyle, and that the showers at the former building were great because they represented the company's support for a more healthy and environmental life style.

Yes, it does seem a bit overdone, but maybe it will work :D

Probably still a few years away, if it ever happens at all, but I do recall one of the plans long term was to have dedicated bike storage and shower facilities somewhere in the core for commuters.

I didn't mean free... hoping some gym somewhere had a locker room only membership fee. I'd pay 20-30 a month to shower, just don't want to pay 70-80.

Olympic Plaza might work... :D

Ya... I just found out today, just gathering my options before I try begging.

I was so happy when I saw the plans for their new building's reno included bike storage and showers/a gym as per the new bike-friendly building codes. That was before I found out I couldn't use them.

As for the public facilities that would be nice, if not gross, but I'd probably use them (with flipflops and a can of bear spray).

All new downtown office towers have dedicated and secured bike storage and most have shower facilities as well to encourage cycling.
