You are lucky I didnt catch your license plate number because i was trying to avoid your rocks as you dumped a uckfayload onto deerfoot. As well, I couldnt brake anyways because there was a motorcycle behind me with TWO people riding trying to avoid them as well. In fact, im glad i didnt brake because I wouldn't have endangered their lives as much as you already were.

on the positive side...I guess its an excuse to get a JDM hood scoop and repaint my sandblasted front end and get it 3Med...since Subaru paint is notorious for being uckfaying thin

Why didn't you follow him and get his plate number/company?

File a 311 complaint and file for a claim if you're so inclined.
They'll find the contractor doing work in the area, then pass the claims to them. Then it becomes a battle to prove it's their rock that hitted your car.

It's got slim chances of it going anywhere, but that's the way.

-edit-
since it's on the Deerfoot, which is under the provincial jurisdication, you'll have to find and fill out the relevant forms to go after the province for your money.

Good luck.

I feel for you, but there really was nothing stopping you from slowing down.

Noble of you to play blocker for the bike, but I'd have changed lanes or slowed down. :dunno:

What made you think you couldn't slow down just because there was a motorbike behind you?

Good luck. Good luck? So out of the probably hundreds of gravel/dump trucks that plod along Deerfoot on any given weekday, how would you propose that the authorities find the right company associated to an unidentified truck?

if this guy was spraying rocks that size I guarantee he has his gate open and they were falling out the back.

do you know anything about the truck? was it just a tandem or did it have a trailer too. what was the color scheme. I will keep an eye out for the truck/company

Depending on your ethics/morality you could call ANY trucking company with a gravel truck and claim the damage
came from their truck. if you do go that route go for a bigger company like Mike Vail Trucking because they are very diverse in what they haul.

I cut my teeth in Gravel and honestly what Rat fink posted above is Very true Im amazed at how poor these drivers are I have been driving since April of this year and im already shaking my heads at the idiocracy, laziness and dilapidated trucks that are being driven. As soon as I get one year driving experience Im leaving gravel and never looking back.

If a rock that size had fallen from a tower under construction downtown, they'd have closed the block for a week. Yet on the Deerfoot.... it's business as usual. The Deerfoot must have cameras, easy to spot the rock tosser as all the vehicles behind are getting nailed.

I work for Burnco, and Burnco replaces countless amounts of windsheilds a year due to debris from our mixer and gravel trucks.

I am sure if you would have grabbed the license plate and unit number they would have had no issues fixing damages to your car (depending on the gravel company i guess)

but sadly better the subby than the bike behind you :(

That's frickin' BRUTAL! +1 for a dashcam. I have a Blackvue and for ~200 bucks, it's pretty good peace of mind to know I will have proof if something like this happens to me.

This happened to me last year. Boulders flying at me from an uncovered load, at least as large as the one from your picture... I heard a decent bang as one hit my undercarriage from a lucky bounce, but I guess I got lucky overall.

I don't understand, why didn't you get the out of the way.

I had a city sweeper truck launch huge rock that fucked up the window on my car, I mostly blamed myself for being an arse and following a sweeper shooting rocks all about the place.

Really sunshine? Man, you are just so smart. I would've never have thought of that in a million lifetimes. Please keep watching for PM's from myself as I've got all sorts of simpleton questions that I've been so confused about that you'll no doubt be able to set me straight on - I am just so relieved that you're here. Thanx pal.

To OP, hate to say it, but your best bet is to drive down deerfoot, find a low boy or high boy trailer (flat deck), follow him for awhile, get his plate, and report it. Say there was rocks on the deck and they came off. Insecure load. Its slimey, but people do it all the time.
