Finally visited National over the long weekend and I can’t wait to go again for the lobster poutine! Had the bourbon strawberry lemonade but the drink had way too much bourbon in it. That was all I can taste and nothing else.

Had the beef tartare and the lobster poutine. The beef tartare had way too much horseradish, the one from Parkerhouse is definitely better. The beef was tender, but there was not much taste to it aside from the horseradish.

The lobster poutine on the other hand was really, really good. At first, I was disappointed that it didn’t come out hot. It was warm, but nothing was pasty or chunky. It was so creamy, lots of lobster, lots of cheese, but it wasn’t heavy, didn’t feel gross after eating it. This may be the best poutine I’ve had! And it is definitely better than Brava’s by far. Can’t wait to go back to try the duck poutine and have the lobster poutine again!

Ordered the Porchetta “Cubano” but the server mistaken it as the Crispy Porchetta Sandwich. The server was very nice, offered to switch it for me and that it’ll come right away. I just stuck with the sandwich since it’s similar, less trouble. Everything in the sandwich worked really well together, the bun was very soft and there weren’t too much sauce.

Had the Prime Rib sandwich, though it did not say that there is horseradish, but all I can taste was horseradish…too much for my liking, but if you love horseradish, you’ll love this dish! Had the chowder for the side and it was really thick and milky. Very sweet as well, don’t think I’ll be trying that again.

We were planning to head somewhere else for dessert, so we ended up packing half of both the sandwiches and I had it for lunch the next 2 days…
I must say, it tasted even better! The horseradish taste mellowed down and I can taste the prime rib. You can taste everything else, the onion, the arugula. I really liked it!

I was actually expecting this place to have some TVs, but nothing! It’s very nice on a summer day, with the patio open and all the window open to give the people inside some fresh air.
The bill was $118 for 2 people (tax + tip incl.). Will definitely be going back!

They always run out of the duck poutine. Oh well, the lobster poutine is just great.

Perfect food to go with a few beers

I found it fairly pricy. But then again we were doing a ton of shots in the nature of stampede. I really enjoyed the food. Duck poutine was sold out as stated above.

The Burger was fantastic and the service was really good. Great location. Way better than that dive Mercury that use to be there.

After seen these pictures of National Beer Hall, I am also interested to visit there. These food looks so tasty in the pictures, in fact beer can be very good of this place. Anyway, good to see and read the whole article.
