I can get a 80km, 96month, $100 deductible warranty for $1500. I plan on selling the car privately in around 6 months.

Do you guys think the resale value of the car will increase by the same amount or more?

Nope. It's a four year old lease buyout. It's a 2008 VW Rabbit with 38km.

Anyone buying a five year old VW would be giddy at getting a warrantee, so yes would be my vote. Mixed bag from Edmunds (fairly solid car overall, such low kms as well):

i would if i were you, especially for german cars, the extended warranty will not only add more value to your car ($$), but also help you sell it quicker.
