Need help putting together a mobile "gym" that I can use while I'm working out of town. I really enjoy the full-body workout style of 5x5 or compounding exercises in general. I don't really have room to haul a bench in my SUV with all my gear and plus I'm probably taking my bike + trainer with me. Just an idea of size/space:

I have those power-push up handles, ab roller, chinup bar and powerblocks. Maybe a kettle bell(s) but I'd like to utilize my powerblocks as much as possible, plus less to take with me. Again the 5x5 type program was awesome so just switching A/B days is easy.

Squats - Tried these earlier by holding one block against my chest with both arms (can't remember what this is called). Found my arms got tired and my legs didn't really feel it that much, feels really weird compared to using a bar.

Deadlifts - Should be easy enough just to use the dumbbells for this. Maybe elevated slightly.

Shoulder press - no brainer here.

Chinup/pullup - have the bar that fits in the doorway

Rows - can do one arm rows using the couch?

Abs - the floor + ab roller

Bench - not sure what to do here. Maybe a ball? Any ideas here are appreciated. Maybe I can make something? Use the couch somehow? Really lost on this one.

If there are other exercises that are better for the setup I'm all ears. Or if you feel like tossing together a workout plan I'm game for that too.

might be able to use resistance bands for a few exercises, might work for squats? could use them for tricep and bicep workouts as well. Just a thought...

Get a swiss ball to sub in for the bench and you can always do air squats just up the volume.

You could try doing squats with your power blocks held up in the Shoulder Press starting position. Your arms shouldn't get as tired since your biceps won't be flexed like the position you were trying before.

I'd go with a TRX and a couple of kbs in your siutation. Save 5x5 when you have access to the proper gear.

Thanks for the suggestions guys.

Lint, what exercises would the KB(s) be for in addition to the TRX?

have a look at this thread on the Program Minimum http://www.davedraper.com/fusionbb/showtopic.php?tid/20276/

And you also take a look at the Coyote Point KB Manual too http://danjohn.net/2011/05/a-draft-of-the-coyote-point-kettlebell-club-how-to-manual/

And anything kb by Pavel Tsatsouline

Kettlebells do it all. Plenty of DVDs out there to follow including Pavel Tsatsouline as mentioned. Combined with some yoga, what more is there to do?

Another vote for kettlebells from me also. Russian/American swings, taters, turkish get ups, shotgun pulls etc. will all kick your ass if you train hard enough.

Combine multiple movements into a complex and in 20 minutes you could be done

Edit: Burpees are always fun too
