i'm not looking for "free" paintjobs to do .....i'm looking for a "project" and more of a perfection thing to do.....i'm in calgary and i'd have to hear about what you want done or see the damages and body work to be done to decide on prices

i have 1989 civic hatch, rust has been fixed by me and pretty much all the body work. so all it needs now is some primer and paint, how much?

I have a 92 prelude that needs to be painted. Do you fit body kits. If you do and your spraying for free i need a kit that needs to be painted. PM me and let me know

LudeRoca

Nevermind about the free spray. Just let me know h0w much

i'm looking for a project if you can read my last reply and not for free.....i do good work so there's no need for pictures....i do it everyday...if my boss can trust me with bmw's and high end acuras i'm sure i can make a 92 prelude and 89 civic hatches look like gold thanks for your interest guys...but i'm looking for a project for a "good" job not an upgrade so if you have the money to pay for it let me know...until then can we keep the junk to a minimum!!

tomsweet1990
02-12-2004, 10:24 PM
for your prelude a full respray with a kit will probably be around 2500-3000 depending on what body work needs to be done...hope to talk to you soon....

sorry but i cant take your word for it.......and if your painting a bmw then y dont you just grab a camra and take a pic?

02-13-2004, 09:22 PM
Doesen't matter what kinds of cars you work on, metal is metal, paint is paint... How long will these paint jobs last? $2500 - $3000 is a bit much don't you think?

ehos

A good paintjob is around 2-3K.

A good macco paintjob is 1K :)
Show paint can run 15K (easy).

If you want it done cheap, paint it yourself or check the bf and there's guys that'll paint cheap cars with cheap paint.

And guess what? It'll look cheap! (Or shiney for a little while).

Good, fast, or cheap.

Pick two.

ehos
02-14-2004, 12:21 PM
You get all three if you do it yourself (if you have skills of course) :)

this comming from a guy who paints cars in his garage in the summer.... i cant take your word considering you cant even back your work up with a simple warrenty

tomsweet1990
02-14-2004, 08:56 PM
i'm not looking for offensive junk.....i just told you what i work on....if any of you with the exception of ehos had a clue of what good quality materials cost to paint your cars with or knew what went into it then maybe you'd see the difference between a $1500 job and a $3000 job....one guy takes time and does a good time consuming tedious job and one guy throws it together and runs away with a quick bit of cash....and as for your comment about guaranteeing things.....a shop can do that because they do so much business and buy so much materials through suppliers and get checked up on by good suppliers to know what's going on....they can make the money back...but when material costs are as high as they are and people not taking care of their gear or expecting rust to never come back is unreal....rust always comes back in everyday daily driving....there is no way to get away from it....it's just how long it stays away for...so if any of you guys are in for a project and want a nice job done, let's talk and try and keep this critic shit a little lower.....and as for pics...i don't drive the cars that i've worked on and i touch at least 4 or 5 cars a day at work i'm not going to take pics of them all

i think it hides from cars i think....besides i didn't know paint could catch rust i think it sticks to metal by glue or something...

tomsweet1990
02-14-2004, 09:21 PM
this was a rust bucket....and horrible....bad pic but that's the only one i've got....shaved doors, side moldings, drip rails, custom grill, lots of plastic work.....it did take 6 months but it was a first project...

Looks pretty interesting... I like your paint job on the isuzu, looks good.
I do feal however for 2500-3000 you can goto just about any body shop in Calgary and get a decent paint job.

Would you be working at your work to do this paint job or making a paint booth out of your garage or something for some extra cash?

and i'm not lookign for a paintjob...i said a project...in other words...basically i work in a shop on acuras...bmw...lexus..toyota...etc...and i want to do better work on somebodys vehicle that wants people to look at it not for a paintjob...my job at home would be time consiuming but it would be better than my job at the shop which you sure wouldn't find bad at all...so take it as you will..

Tomsweet1990 when I get back from Ontario one of my vehicles will be needing paint, I want it to look like glass, I will not tolerate any overspray or runs at all . Im sticking with the stock color but I want alot of clear, it has to shine even better than when it was new. If it works for you Id buy the paint and primer of my choice and we could work out a price for you to prep primer and paint. Id also need the side mouldings shaved and my new bodykit fitted. I want to use as little bondo as possible and for the shaved mouldings there is a new metal on metal paste that is guaranteed to never crack, i would supply that as well to fill the area where the mouldings used to be. pm me for more info if youre interested, like I said this wont be happening for a few months but if its something youre interested in and you are positive you can do an increadibly high quality job let me know thanks

#1 reason for paint to crack is thick paint.........if you put one layer of clear or ten layers of clear it will still have the same shine :werd:

So what gives paint that liquid glass look? Is it all in the prep work? I want a hot rod quality type of job

if it's under the table and you are charging what you make an hour at the shop, which I assume is around 30 bucks an hour. then you will be spending 100 hours on the project of your choice? if that is correct then 3 large is not a lot of money for the amount of work he will do. ie color sanding, poloishing and detailing. amn if you guys can get 100 hours out of him for 3 g's you will have a reasonable show quality paint job no problem!!!

tomsweet1990 I think yuor price is reasonable whether you car about my opinon or not i thought I'd let everyone know.

THANK GOD you do not paint real cars....
