Ferrari's do not come turbocharged from the factory.
There's a company in Germany,(Koenig) which tunes and converts Ferrari's.

The F40 came from the factory with a 2.9L twin-turbo V8.

The 288GTO is also turbocharged Ferrari from the factory. The F40 was in theory it's replacement.

I translated some of that site from german a few years ago, The story goes that the owner got the car for a pretty reasonable price (not sure how much) and was able to buy almost every spare part he needed from Ferrari because no one has bought any parts for f40s.. everyone upgrades parts instead of replacing them with OEM.

So he was able to get the car back to almost showroom new for less than he could buy a used one for... That's a real labor of love!!

I wonder how long the rebuild took. Factor in the time he could've used to be working at a job and it probably cost as much as buying a used one.
