Went to Cibo with my girlfriends on August 2nd and it was quite packed! was told they opened in May or June?
We started off with 3 scodellina (1 for $4, 3 for $11, 5 for $18) – shrimp, bruschetta, and roasted eggplant (from left to right).

The shrimp was crunchy, but it was quite flavorless. The bruschetta was my favorite, lots of flavour. You couldn’t taste the eggplant; I actually thought it tasted more like spaghetti and meatballs. There is definitely not enough crostini for the spread, we ended up ordering extra and it took quite a while for it to come out.

We then had the gnocchi and farfalle. The gnocci came with lots of spinach and cheese, but not much pasta. The texture was ok, but it was quite blend; and it tasted more like dumplings.

The farfalle was way better. The amount was generous and there were lots of different flavours and textures. I really like the addition of pine nuts.

Lastly we had the wild boar bacon pizza (left) and the sausage pizza (right). I was contemplating whether to order the pizza or not as most the pizza pictures on urbanspoon were burnt…

When we got our pizza (around 12 inches each), the crust for the wild boar was great, but the sausage one was somewhat burnt and tasted like charcoal. The topping for the wild boar bacon was very salty and there was minimal meat. The broccolini in the sausage pizza was very moderate and the caramelized onions were quite sweet. We liked the topping on the sausage pizza more but the crust for the wild boar bacon was way better. However, we all believe that you can get better pizza at UNA or Double Zero.

The server frequent our table a lot was very nice and friendly. All the workers that I encountered there were very friendly.

We each paid $23 (tips & GST included) for the 4 of us.
Overall it’s a nice place to try! I will definitely be going back to try other items on the menu.

Model Milk and UNA are good places to go.

My question is the size of that shrimp. It may be deceiving through my smartphone but how big is that? Lol.

The pizza looks too 'doughy'. Good review.:)

The scodellinas that we got were around fist size.

The shrimps were average size, we did cut it in half so each of us could get a taste of it. If I were to compare it with an item...I would say a little bigger then a ping pong ball...or similar to the ones you see in the viet spring rolls.

Unfortunately, yes, the pizza was a little too doughy, but if it was not burnt, it was pretty tasty.

Good review but you seem less than impressed with the food so it's a little surprising that you would want to return.

I want to go back because there's other pasta and entrees that I would like to try.

I really liked the farfella. And it's a nice place to hang out!

It's definitely a nicer place to hang out than eat. I didn't think the food was terrible though, just not stand out.

I loved the prosciutto pizza I had there. It was fantastic.

2014 bump, tried it last night. Ordered the lamb stuffed calamari, soft shell crab, wild boar pizza and the duck. I think their pizza is better than Una's. Service was a bit slow, but it was a busy Saturday night. I hated the tiny tables for 2, and if it's against the wall you have no elbow room. The only food complaint would be the crepes that came with the duck were too soft/soggy and fell apart easily.

^I like UNA's pizza way more than Cibos but Cibo has cheap.pizzas ($10) after 10 or 11pm, cant remember so that's always good.

I haven't had the pizza, but have had appies there twice. Someone should really tell the chef that dousing food in salt doesn't necessarily make it better. IMO 7.5/10 is way too generous. I actually felt like complete crap after the last time I ate there and would rate it closer to a 4/10. With so many other choices on 17th, Cibo is an easy skip IMO.

Been a few times and it's pretty good 7/10 food. Nice place and good service. The lamb meatballs are my favorite.

Went to CIBO for a business dinner recently, after hating on it since it opened.

Pleasantly surprised.

Devilled Eggs, Roasted Beet salad, Bacon wrapped figs , and Wild Boar & bacon pizza.

A very solid 8/10 average for food

7.5 for service, he was good, but how about sending a cute chick for a table of guys?

ambiance, 8/10, had a good buzz going on.

I'm a huge fan of Una, Posto is pretty good, Bonterra is usually excellent, and after the other night I can't hate on Cibo as much. Would return.

You guys are tough critics!! I love cibos pizza and would give it a 9/10. Unas pizza is great but im not all for their crazy topping combos... just not sophisticated enough.
