whats your guys opinion on this car. my parents are looking to get one and my pops told me that sales person really focused on the ICE rather than the actual car itself?

I can't get past the styling or the lack of it. I don't know much about the rest of the car sorry. But it wouldn't surprise me that they are concentrating on the inside since the outside is ass-ugly.:dunno:

I saw a couple done up ones in California. The larger one (X2?) looked cool with 18's. They have massive interior space, but they're just too slow for me.

Oh which model btw? I'm assuming xA or xB. The tC isn't so bad I suppose.

I saw them in California last year too.. neat looking car, an Xb would look amazing on 18's and airbagged :D

Which ever one is more truck-like.

My vote is for the xb because there's not much out there that looks like it. The xa looks too generic.

scion wont even be nation wide in the united states till june of this year.. california only so far. i remember the sales guy at the car show says it might be US only... im not too sure if that is right...

so far only two choices: The Egg xA, or the take out box xB

tC is comming at june with a supercharger option. its stock at 240hp. looks very nice... and very cheap

in japan there's tons of vehicles that look like the xB, they're just bigger. I love that style of vehicle, thats why I like the honda element ;)

TC looks pretty damn decent... hell i might even take it over a civic coupe. Scion's are a pretty good value for what you get in my opinion. But i wonder if we'll ever see em in Canada.

Toyota gave Canadian Echo hatches which isn't availabe in US (last I checked a few months back). So for the market, I don't think Scion will make it to this side of the border.

For a utility commuter vehicle, the xB really appeals to me. I will certainly take a closer look at one when they come here.
The xB is "Fugly". I like what I read so far.

The coupe is interesting, too - but I want something that will haul a dog and other stuff.

The xA is not exactly interesting to look at.

I was at the NYC autoshow two years ago when they first were presented. They have a XB has a ton of room inside it, very impressive, and the insides look hot. The one I saw was all decked out with DVD and entertainment unit. Don't know if this is with all models or if it was for just for the display model. XB has a really cool and unique look.

Box on wheels with 108HP and looks ugly as hell to me. No thanks. :thumbsdow

It's great if all you care about is getting looks and fitting your car with aftermarket add-ons like the DVD units, wheels and whatnots from the factory. I need a lot more GO with my show.

Actually, I believe Toyota released the "xB" quite a while back in Japan, but it was named "Open deck". Don't know the specs of it or anything though. Here's some pics of it.

I've been trying to think what the xB reminds me of, and I finally figured it out - front end is a Chevy Astro:

back end is a honda element without fender flares:

I have to say the scion is a bad move. I say this only because I worked with a guy who drove one and everyday he pulled in we all had to bite our lip and hold back from screaming chuuump!!! Also contrary to the adds on the net and tv, it is tiny. It is a small refrigerator box. One would maybe consider a pt turbo. still a fridge box but bigger and faster.

1badPT

You've probably made yourself unpopular complimenting a PT Turbo but I agree with you

And the PT Turbo at least has some sense of style and 108 hp vs 220 on the new PT Turbos its no contest :D

I was no pt lover for the first couple of years, but my next door neighboor got one and the turbo is worth its salt. Good value as well.

The Scion xB is the reason I am waiting and holding onto my girlfriends aging and battered old Sunbird - I think that it will make a great chicks car that I wont be embarassed to borrow and be seen in.
I like the simple boxy look, and the apparent utility. I will borrow it to take bike parts to the mediaBlasters & powder coaters, etc.

So, when it comes out I will test drive one. If I like it she will buy it. Nice to have power, hey?

Ducati

Really? What is wrong with this? Isn't it pointy enough?
I mean, the car is going to be a utility device, not a tuner hot rod.

I think Scion is a step in the right direction. Toyota is scrapping the celica right away and theres a nice little fwd sports coupe coming out pretty soon from scion. Toyota will either be extremely boring in Canada and theyll generate sales selling echos, corollas and 4runners or Scion will come up here and we'll have access to all of their neat cars.

isn't scion suppused to be a new direction for toyota, a brand targeted at youths? We dont need another matrix (xa) and i doubt too many teans will be screaming to drive the box on wheels xB

to each their own i guess.

"gay"

So, If I buy one, Im going to turn queer, is that it?

What economical small car should I use to haul greasy bike engines and a dirt encrusted terrier, and freshly painted parts around? Some pointy japanese coupe with a high strung modified VTEC?
I don't want a truck, or a truckish Honda Element.
I don't want a hot rod tuner car.
I dont want some gas pig or something that burns premuim. (Damn! I can't have a WRX) and the Impreza is out of our budget.
I don't want a Protege or Mazda3 (not that there is anything wrong with them)
I don't want a Ford Escort or a Pontiac Vibe/Toyota Matrix.
I Don't want a Mini or Mini Cooper. I will let the Chinese chicks here in Richmond buy all of them.
I do not intend to spend the price of the Jetta Wagon TDI, and I am going to lease, so will buy new rather than used.
The Scion is expected to be sub $16K. Thats Sunfire price range. (no, I dont want a cav/sunfire, either)
I want a small vehicle that I can park in a very tight spot

Tell me, GT-FOUR, what SHOULD I get for the above described purposes?
Please - disgorge the contents of your massive throbbing cerebrum for my edification. I'm listening.
