importing and the gas guzzler tax

Is this completely unavoidable? Do they simply link the tax to your VIN?

My last vehicles did not have the charge, but I'm looking at a CTS-V in the states that will have a $2,000 gas guzzler tax!

Avoid wasn't really the best choice of words.

The V is the only version of the CTS that has the GG tax. So I'm wondering if sometimes these types of cars fall through the cracks.

As opposed to say an escalade, which has all of them taxed.

No you will not get through. That is why importing such vehicles as a CTS-v, corvette, RS4 etc ding you so hard on top of the other taxes.
