Howdy doodie fellow beyonders!

I have just recently bought a turbo civic. Turns out it was Sentry's old car. I want to first say, Good job sir Sentry. You build one hell of a car.

I've owned the car for 3 weeks and i'm just doing the basic maintenance to it now. So far:

New Passenger Axle
New passenger and driver axle seal
Brembo Rotors
Akibono Pads
Driver side window regulator
New fuel filter

en route:

Master polyurethane bushing kit
CF Duckbill spoiler
new oil pan (Need a better oil return line. Leaking :()
stainless steel turbo oil return line kit

Still have some more ways to go, but it will be a killer car when i'm done.

The point of my thread!!! The turbo's actuator is set for a max of 14.5 psi. After a lot of research, I've come to this conclusion. If i want to crack the 300 whp mark, I need more boost. To get more boost, I need to get rid of the internal wastergate and actuator. To do so, I need to get the internet wastegate flapper welded shut and purchase an EWG. AND an EWG sounds fckuin BOSS!

The turbo is a "Godspeed GT3076R turbo" and the exhaust manifold already has a flange on the 4th cylinder.

My first question to beyond is.....am I out in left field with this idea, or is this what i need to do to get an EWG installed?

My second question to beyond is.....where/who would be the best place to get the turbo internal wastegate flapper shut????

Thanks in advance for all the help!

and for everyone who doesn't know about the build, here's the complete build thread from Sentry.

You don't need an EWG to run more boost... You can get a boost controller and run 1.5x wastegate spring pressure (IIRC)...

If you are getting the flapper welded, I'd just replace the turbo with a non internally gated turbo... Garrett as opposed to Godspeed...

This.

You don't really want that manifold for an EWG anyway, won't work as well as one that vents all 4 cylinders vs just one.

I was also going to mention opening up the port on the internal wastegate in the turbine housing but it looks like the PO took care of that already. You shouldn't have any issues with raising the boost level in regards to spiking.

This is something that I had no idea about. Right now, the car has a Turbosmart manual boost controller installed. So do I need to have an electronic boost controller or will the manual boost controller suffice??

Sorry about all the questions. Never had the means to be able to tamper with a boosted car, and now I do! :burnout:

Thanks for the heads up! Will do some more research on what works best.

You don't need an EBC, but don't just turn the boost up and expect to make power. You should get on the dyno and tuned for the most boost you plan to run before you just turn it up...

This was going to be my next question in a month or so.......Who is the best shop to tune a d16 with a turbo?? I checked a few different threads on here and a lot of people are always wondering what kind of setup you have, ecu, etc.

I was talking with Paul from Bert and Jacks and he recommended Toma without even thinking about who to recommend.

I want to get in touch with him, but i would like to know who has had good luck with a tune, and where.

The one thing i've always been told is "Never cheap out on the tune. It is the most important thing". So I'd like some feedback on who's gone where.

You, Mr. DeleriousZ, are AWESOME! Of all the places i searched, I didn't think of going to garrett's website and checking for information :nut:

I now have some good reading material for the way home.
