Came across something that I just couldn't pass up and if you seen my "spotted at home thread", you'll understand why I couldn't pass up this car.

On to a few pictures:

Nice. One of the few cars that will get as much respect in the NW as the NE, and I mean that in a good way.

Ah maybe some things over the winter. There are a few odds and ends that I will likely fix to my liking and I was thinking of tampering with the suspension but it sits soooo nice(IMO of course) without doing anything that way.

I think I might look into some power adders though, time will tell I guess.

I actually laughed at that but I do know what you mean.

HAHA! Totally some NE cred:poosie: I love it, always had a soft spot for those. And they are COMFY! I'd fall asleep driving one of those if it wasn't for the torque.

Well played sir.

Wicked car. I have always been a fan of these. Such a sleeper & RWD + v8

Nah if you want NE cred, you need to drive a regal auction ex taxi with a flag of some random impoverished country on the mirror.

Don't forget the black racing stripes down the middle of the car.

Thanks guys!

@03ozwhip The days before the car was in my possession I was running wild with ideas and I really thought I wanted to do air ride(I think its badass too haha) but after I laid eyes on the car again in person, the stance just seems so right from factory. So I don't think I'll mess with it.

..Under the hood though? That's a different story.

Oh and I doubt I'll get down to one of the meets or whatever before I put it away but when she wakes up next season, a ride along would be no issue.

^ Nothing there. You left a 404 not found LOL.

Nice car, if I were you, keep all the stock parts that you replace, since if you ever go to sell it, if a collector were to buy it, they'd want all the parts to bring it back to stock. Not having them could be a deal killer.

Those Impala SS's are super rare. How did you find it?

brucebanner

Oh yeah Graham, I'm well aware of that. My dad is one of those type of collectors with certain stuff, his Impala SS being one of them as his is bone stock.

I came across it through Kijiji. I generally pick through almost daily. That and I specifically look for stuff like this or Marauders, just different stuff. So it worked out that this SS was 10 minutes from my doorstep. Figured I should have it, that soft spot in me couldn't leave it be.

"Lord Vader, your car is ready"

One of the few domestics that'd I'd actually like to own. My neighbour across the street from me has one. At one point, he had two. :nut:

So after me buying my Impala, my best friend decided that he wanted something similar. So he found a very nice example of a 2003 Mercury Marauder! Guess we have some comparisons to make, nothing like a couple of boats rolling around.

Definitely not. Both of us were in Edmonton today and then back around Red Deer. Not around Calgary at all.

This seems better to me:

Edit: We did some testing on a "closed course" of the two cars and the Marauder is the faster car of the two. Tried from a dead stop, the Marauder keeps the SS behind off the get go and holds it off. Also tried from a roll and again the Marauder pulls away. Kind of sucks since the SS is "supposed" to be quicker from a dig according to the internet.

They should be about evenly matched weight-wise. Gearing maybe?

Yup, definitely a contributing factor. The SS has 3.08s and the Marauder has 3.55s in the rear end if I'm not mistaken. Very similar cars though for being 7 years apart.
