Looks to be a dead vole.

Does your yard look like this in the spring?

Looks like your standard rat to me, you should send this to fish and wildlife, there will be agents at your house in no time.

In the front in the spring i get a patch like that. I also have a few of these right now.

Oh yes we did/do. It was even a HUGE problem for a long time until the gov of Alberta basically instituted a freakin' genocide against them at all costs. :guns:

Vole. notice the small front paws/claws? Pocket gophers have much larger claws, as well as huge front teeth. We have Voles all over the place.
