Hello Everyone.

First time poster long time browser of these forums. I have gained much knowledgeable advice from users on here which I thank you all for.

I have a question that I really need answering and I am sorry if this question has been answered in another thread.

I have been thinking about getting a sub for car for quite sometime and I have resisted so far because of my lack of knowledge on what best to do for my audio system.

In my car I currently have four aftermarket speakers (two in front, two in back) and an aftermarket cd player.

I need to know if its possible to run a sub off a 2 channel amp but keep my speakers running off my cd player?

Looking forward to replies. Thankyou.

The answer to your question is yes, it is possible. In fact people do it ALL the time.

I would skip the 2 channel amp and get a class D mono amp for your sub. They are more efficient and less taxing on your electrical system.

Your speakers would obviously sound much better if they were amp'd with a dedicated amp but its not necessary.

Get a sub, have it tuned, then see how your highs blend in.
