There were actually 2 R63's from Maryland that made it up to Van. You caught one of 'em. I missed out on one that came up for sale last week while on vacation. Damn thing sold in 6 hours. Only 30 in the US and 6 in Canada, so it's definately a rare beast.

Was the R63 going to be a kid hauler for you Rage? haha

I have a huge soft spot for those M coupes for some reason, used to be one around the town I grew up in. Always liked them since.

I just wanted something different to try out for winter. R63's are rare, and can resell easily, so if I liked it great, if not, sell it and lose nothing after a year.

All the cool cars are coming out MY2014, just looking for something temporary.

Would this one have gotten a wrap aswell? ;)

And I saw mine on the I5 in between Seattle and Vancouver so it must've been on its way up. Knew they were rare but not this rare.

Dunno. Never bought it. Couldn't tell ya.

I'll let the owner know. He thought it was cool that you spotted him. He was curious where it was.

I've driven an R63 lol, I thought it was a rebadged, but the sound and power were there. Crazy idea but it doesn't hold much water in this market.

ML63 is far more suiting and should be the only amg SUV in my opinion. G Wagon is an exception in every regard.

Hi guys,

Was doing a search on R63 stuff and came across this thread. Funny enough, I am the owner of the R63 spotted going up to Vancouver. I was getting some warranty work done in Seattle while I was visiting the wife's family, and that meant a few trips back and forth across the border.

To clarify, of the world's largest R63 gathering :D, one was from MD, and the other was in Seattle. I met up with him at the dealership, and he wanted to snap a few pix. His is the ROAR63 Washington plate.

Oryx: yeah, it's cool that you got the shot. Every now and then I see people circling the car and taking pictures, but yours is the first I've actually seen online.

Blue: I don't recall if the wife ever drove while we were up in Vancouver, but if she did it might have been her.

Everyone else: don't knock it until you've tried it (if ever given the chance). While the thing handles like a pig, it still fares much better than most vans and SUVs out there. And the grunt can help you surprise those who are unsuspecting. On our way west through the Rockies, some SS driver got really pissed off that he couldn't get away from us through those twisties - he owned us in the corners, but was relatively slow accelerating out of the turns and that's when we kept catching up. I've lost count of the number of times I've gotten thumbs up by someone who has caught up to me at a light after they heard me accelerate from the last one.

Here's crappy phone pic of the R63 halfway through getting its degree in Entymology - this is a nationwide collection of insects from Seattle to Iowa. Collection only got bigger and took several washes to remove all the residue once we got back to MD. The car survived two cross country road trips, although it took weeks to air it out so it no longer smelled like beef jerky, fast food, and feet.
