Anyone done any recent research on TV's?

My old faithful 50" plasma died yesterday. Looking around the 55-60" range. Spent some time at Best Buy and Future shop and came back more confused than ever.

Had my eye on the 55" Samsung 7100 series LED and the 60" Panasonic Plasma. I like the idea of five more inches of screen, but the ultra thin bezel on the Samsung kept catching my eye. It's one sharp looking TV. Are the modern plasmas cooler than the older generations were? I could almost heat the house with the old one.

Preferably I would like to be under two thousand, but I'm a bit flexible on the price.

Are you brand loyal?If not.

Go on www.redflagdeals.com and type in television in the search engine and see which it pops up in terms of Televisions on sale.

Thanks, I'll check that out.

I picked up a cheap 50" lg on the weekend but still plan on picking up something better for the main TV. At least then if one dies I wont be without a TV in the house again.

Do a search, there have been a few recently. Personally picked up a Panasonic ST50 and loving it.

I have my eye on the 65" Panasonic VT50 or the Samsung ES8000. I also need a tv for my greatroom and I was thinking of going with a 46" or 50"Samsung ES6500 since it will be in a brighter room.

The ES7100 is a very nice tv. I have not owned a plasma before but sounds like the new plasmas are not too bad for rooms that are not blacked out. There are lots of reviews online and heat wise they feel much cooler then the old plasmas. Hope that they all go on sale even more in the fall.

Thanks for the replies.

It's come down to either the 60" ST Panasonic or the 55" Samsung 8000 series. I plan on keeping my eye on both and which ever one go's on for a steal of a deal first will end up on the wall and the LG will go in the kitchen.

Seems like that time of year. I'm in the market myself, as I've moved into my new place and have all of my other furniture! Only problem is that my old 42" plasma looks tiny! (Couldn't fit anything much larger in the old place, sadly.)

My old TV is 42" Panasonic Plasma (I BELIEVE from the UT series). It's probably going to end up in the den. I was really keen on the 7000 or 8000 series of Samsung LED LCD tv's, but I'm just not sure I can stray away from the picture quality I've grown to love so much on my Pany plasma. So I too am torn between the aforementioned LED tvs or a 60" ST model Pany.

Just about time for some fall sales on electronics, no? I'm getting a little antsy for a new TV! Haha :whipped:

I recently got this:

and I am very happy with it. I don't care for 3D and I have a computer hooked up to it so I dont need the smart tv aspect.

When did the ES8000 go that low in pricing and where?
That's a crazy deal!

If you can afford the VT series just do it. Check home theatre forums, it's the bomb
