Was driving by Stampede Toyota today and saw it. Not sure if its the first or not but hadn't seen it before. Would've thought there'd be a spotted thread by now since there were a bunch of shop guys taking pics and I was in too much of a rush to get out and take anything better.

Thats the asking price.. not the selling price. There has been an LFA sitting in the showroom in Vancouver for months.. give it 36 months and I bet you will be able to pick one up for 150k max.

Yup. I truly don't understand the morons that just don't "get" this car either. Everything but the transmission is wonderfully engineered.

They just kind of rushed it out the door/ran out of budget apparently and the transmission was the last piece; they were actually well into working on a dual-clutch tranny for it I heard... [according to interviews with people involved].

The engine is an absolute work of art (which is really all that matters for any car above a quarter million dollars where price starts to lose total relevance). Idle to redline faster than any other production car engine in history. Enough said...

Also I choose not to get this car as you say because I have no interest in it nor will I ever bother to spend 300+k on a lexus product if I had the money regardless of the power and engineering.

It definitely has some nice touches but as a complete package the end product seems to be less than the sum of its parts as performance-wise it's outclassed by much cheaper cars, some not even exotic.

There really isn't a car on the road that you can purchase for <$250,000 that will beat a used 40k C6 Z06 with fresh Michelins... on a track.

Once again, performance loses it's relevance as budget goes up. Past benchmarks like a 911 Turbo or a Z06, you're really just buying more prestige, badge, exclusivity, intangibles, and "artistic merit".

Personally, having a V10 that revs so fast an analogue tachometer couldn't keep up in a sexy/exclusive road car would be worth the dough for many millionaires -- and I'll bet it really doesn't bother them that my Z06 is faster (or any other car).

My problem is the Lexus brand isn't prestigious and the car itself in typical Japanese fashion has too many vents and scoops and lacks the visual appeal expected at this price tag. The GTR can be forgiven for it's ugliness because of it's price tag but this car not so much. The only thing this car really has going for it is exclusivity.

LFA is listed 7:38 lap time and 7:14 lap time for the one with Nurburgring Package

Of course there will be vehicles faster than the LFA (2005 Z06 clocks 7:48 and the 2012 Z06 at 7:22 w/ Z07 Package) but the R&D on this vehicle is almost incomparable to other exotics out there.

All the vents and scoops are completely functional, even the side mirrors are aerodynamic to direct airflow behind it which cools the twin rear mounted radiators.

Leno has probably one of the best quotes about the LFA in summary

Leno summarized the LFA as "certainly, there might be cars out there that could individually do things better than the LFA. Maybe a bit quicker or handling a bit better. But, no other car I know of does everything so extremely well"
