haha buying 4k now is like buying HDTV in 2000. Waste of cash.

Tough decision, buy for 25k now with very limited content, or wait 10 years and buy for 2k with abundant content.

Would be cool (yet gimmicky) if it did 4X 1080p screens at the same time.

This is very true, although NHK in Japan is already testing 4K broadcasts so I can see Japan being the first (like in many things technology) to have this adopted to a much greater scale. 4K signal OTA...that's crazy...

They are marketing this TV directly to rage2...

"But certainly the higher-end customer that wants the best of the best, who's spending $140,000 on a car, or $12,000 on a watch, it's those people we're going to start with."

Sorta.

A $12K watch is one of raj2 cheaper purchases.

Can he lease it? Does it come in brown (the new black)? Must be a business expense in there for a true baller.

Does 4k stand for something in the TV world?

1080p (1K) present full hd lines of resolution
4320p (4K) future line of resolution. basically what digital movie theatres use

4K is generally 2160p, and if we're going apples to apples then 1080p is closer to 2K than 1K.

This is despite the fact that 4K is 4x the resolution of 1080p :P
