Ironic I had a trip planned to the Zoo a day after Melinda for some Animal Behavioral Studies with girlRACER, iso the Photo Section is all of a sudden Influxed with Zoo Photos, hahaha, in any case, I'll post a few pics for you animal lovers out there. Some of these shots took a lot of standing around, waiting for just the right moment (like the polar bear and snow leopard shots) I was at the zoo from 9-3:30. Hope you like :)

I'll make a gallery of all 170 pics later on tonight/tomorrow.

Cheers

Not cropped whatsoever, Took the original, resized to 800x531, took a black background of 900x600, placed the photo inside it and then added text. Unedited aside from that, didn't have time. The color out of that lens is incredible!

Thanks for the great comments everyone.

What sucks is that most of the above pics are either through glass, or cage, so some you can really see that, and takes away from the clarity and over all presentation. I suppose if I had an hour to spend on each photo I could remove the cages and take off the reflections from the glass, but its not worth it. I just like sharing photos.

Yeah, it would be A LOT easier if there was an alternative to glass or bars at the zoo, but they don't care about the photographers so we make due. It would be nice if they cleaned the glass every once in a while though haha, so many little kid finger prints everywhere!

Good job Ben, you took some good ones :)

Cool pictures Ben, I was going to ask if your using a tripod as well or perhaps a monopod?

Ben
02-10-2004, 03:54 PM
nope, no tripod/monopod, didn't feel like carrying that around all day.

I used Ekliptix 70-200L USM 1:40 lens.

man, once i get an d-SLR i'll be giving u a PM ben! haha
sweet stuff

question: for you guys and gals who are using the Digital Rebel, are you finding urselves using the viewfinder a lot more than the lcd display? Or are you using the display only?
My S45 doesn't do much in terms of the viewfinder, but i'm hoping the D-Rebel's viewfinder is pretty good just like traditional SLRs..

RC-Cola
02-10-2004, 09:45 PM
you can't use teh LCD screen to preview your pictures on the Digital Rebel. You can only use the viewfinder...

Ekliptix
02-10-2004, 09:50 PM
Which helps the battery last.

so you can't even use the LCD to preview... nice!
sweet sweet, so it'll b like using an SLR all over again

Ben
02-11-2004, 12:12 AM
The LCD is only used for looking at photos already taken, not for lining up a subject befre you shoot. :)

02-11-2004, 12:17 AM
good... cuz that's something i dun like about my S45... can't use my viewfinder at all b/c it doesn't line up well.

aghz... man i'm itching for this camera.

Went and developled a few last night, the nice thing abut DSLR's is they take photos in the same aspect ratio as print, so you dont have any cropping like Point and Shoot cams. The photo developer wanted to make copies of them, haha right on.
